Tips

If you believe that consecrating your magickal tools makes them more powerful then why not do the same with your school tools. Consecrate your pens, pencils, ruler, calculator, scribblers, etc to make them more powerful!

If you live in dorms and have a roommate then having a permanent altar may not to realistic for you. So having a temporary altar may be more up your speed. You can keep all your altar tools in a shoe box and no one would be the wiser.

If you worship deities then you can also pray to get the support you need with school. I would find the deity in your pantheon that deals with the more logical aspects of life and pray to them. Some examples of deities you may want to pray to are Athena, Lugh, Seshat, Saraswati, Odin, etc.

I also recommend that you meditate. Meditating when you’re overwhelmed, having a hard time focusing, or right before a big test can be super helpful. It clears your mind of all the useless crap and lets you tune in to what is really important.

I’d love to do more school related posts/videos if anyone has anything they’d like to request (spells, how to be a closeted wiccan in secondary and post secondary school, etc). However that is all for today. I hope this helps you a bit this school year. Make sure you follow me here and on instagram so you get notifications when I post and when I upload videos to youtube. Until next time, Blessed Be!

Pagan questions… Get to know me Part 1

Hi everyone, today I thought I would let you guys get to know me a bit better. I am going to be answering questions which are about my beliefs and about my path. I found this little pic and figured I would just answer them all! I will answer about half today and the other half another day. I’m going to try and give just yes or no answers (when possible) since there are a lot of questions but you can feel free to ask me to elaborate on anything in the comments. Also, keep in mind that one question is repeated a lot in the picture below, for some reason. I only answer it once and therefore the question numbers on the pic aren’t going to be the same as how I have them numbered below.

67699831_1314532055376302_1674667453050781696_n

1. How did you find your path?

I had recently stopped being a Christian and was agnostic. I was researching different beliefs and came across Wicca.

2. Are you in or out of the closet?

Well I’m out to all friends, strangers, coworkers, my dad, and my siblings. I’m out to my mom about being pagan in general. However the rest of my family is still mostly under the assumption that I am Christian I think. I do have Wicca as my religion on fb but I didn’t share it to my feed so it’s just there for anyone to stumble upon.

3. Do you have an altar/shrine/sacred space?

Yes

4. Your take on the Wheel of the year?

Not quite sure what my take would be… I enjoy the wheel of the year… I wouldn’t change it… I try to celebrate when I can but I find it hard since work only gives me Christian holidays off.

5. What does this time of year mean to you?

Well the end of summer is slowly coming. In a month is the equinox I believe so I am super excited for that. Right now everything is about getting the earth, animals, bugs, etc, ready for the fall. I will admit that I am excited for summer to be over though as it is one of my least favourite seasons.

6. What are your cultural influences?

Well I am white so one can argue that I have no culture. However youtube effects me greatly. The things that I watch like wicca channels, mommy channels, and other stuff effects me a lot; what I aspire to and do.

7. How do you view sacred texts and mythology?

I don’t think I really view any sacred texts. But for viewing mythology I do a lot of research online. I also like to read Rick Riordan books. They are obviously just fiction but they are based on a lot of mythology facts which is a fun way for me to learn.

8. Do you have/how did you find a matron/patron

I do have a matron and patron. I did do a tarot spread to help determine it a bit but I also just felt in my gut who I was drawn to. Gaia and Pan fyi

9. Do you keep a diary/journal of your experiences?

Nope

10. What do the moon phases mean to you?

Well obviously they represent the phases of the goddess. It also affects energy levels in the air.

11. What does the sun mean to you?

It represents the god and his strength

12. Do you use divination? What types?

Yes, tarot, oracle, and pendulums typically.

13. What does magick mean to you?

It is a more powerful use of the law of attraction in my opinion. It is an optional part of the path that I think a lot of people deem mandatory.

14. Do you perform spells on a regular basis?

Nope

15. What spiritual practice do you do most often?

Divination probably

16. What does the deity/god/divine mean to you?

Well I identify most with the divine. I believe in the universal energy source. I also have deities that I worship however. I do not believe deities are actual being but rather just personified pieces of the universal energy source.

17. How do you feel about group work/worship?

I really enjoyed it as a Christian but it has been so long that I have had the opportunity to worship within a group that I would awkward about it now.

18. What does initiation mean to you?

Initiation is not important to me at all (I’m assuming that this is separate from dedication).

19. Do you have a grimoire/book of shadows?

Yes

20. Do you create your own correspondences?

I don’t other than what’s on this site.

21. How important is your diet/magickal use of food?

I wish I prioritized it more. I have certain ethics and morals on food but too lazy and frugal to actually buy what I want to be eating. As for food and magick, I don’t typically mix those.

Beltane Ritual

Happy Beltane everyone! I hope everyone is excited that spring has finally truly started. I thought I would make a post about a ritual you can do during the sabbat if it calls upon you. I know this one is very woman based (although men can do it too as we all have both the feminine and masculine in us) so if this one isn’t your cup of tea check out this one instead. Anything in red were little adjustments I made. The original source is from https://www.learnreligions.com/honor-the-sacred-feminine-with-a-goddess-ritual-2561652 I hope you enjoy!

images

What you need

  • A white candle
  • An offering of something that is important to you
  • A bowl of water
  • A handful of small pebbles or stones
If your tradition calls for you to cast a circle, do so now.

Begin the Ritual

Begin by standing in the goddess position; this is a stance in which the feet are spread apart, about shoulder-width, and the arms raised up to the sky. Speak clearly, and say:
I am (your name), and I stand before you,
goddesses of the sky and earth and sea,
I honor you, for your blood runs through my veins,
one woman (or man), standing on the edge of the universe.
Tonight, I make an offering in Your names,
As my thanks for all you have given me.
Light the candle, and place your offering before it on the altar. The offering may be something tangible, such as bread or wine or flowers. It can also be something symbolic, such as a gift of your time or dedication. Whatever it is, it should be something from your heart. You may want to read up on Offerings to the Gods for some ideas.
Once you have made your offering, it is time to call upon the goddesses by name. Say:
I am (your name), and I stand before you,
Isis, Ishtar, Tiamat, Inanna, Shakti, Cybele (Or any other goddesses you worship instead).
Mothers of the ancient people,
guardians of those who walked the earth thousands of years ago,
I offer you this as a way of showing my gratitude.
Your strength has flowed within me,
your wisdom has given me knowledge,
your inspiration has given birth to harmony in my soul.
Now it is time to honor the many women may who have touched your life. For each one, place a pebble into the bowl of water. As you do so, say each woman’s name and how she has impacted you. You might say something like this:
I am (your name), and I stand before you,
to honor the sacred feminine that has touched my heart.
I honor Susan, who gave birth to me and raised me to be strong;
I honor Maggie, my grandmother, whose strength took her to the hospitals of war-torn France;
I honor Cathleen, my aunt, who lost her courageous battle with cancer;
I honor Jennifer, my sister, who has raised three children alone…
Continue until you have placed a pebble in the water for each of these women. Reserve one pebble for yourself. Finish by saying:
I am (your name), and I honor myself,
for my strength, my creativity, my knowledge, my inspiration,
and for all the other remarkable things that make me who I am.To wrap up this ritual think about all the things that make you love being a woman and if you’re a man think about all the things you admire about women. Meditate on the feminine energy of the universal energy source for a little while, do any divination, or magickal workings you wish to do, and then close out the circle.

That is it for today, I hope you enjoyed. What are you doing for Beltane? Let me know down below in the comments along with any other thoughts or questions you have. Also make sure you follow me here and on twitter so you get notifications when I post and when I upload videos. Until next time, Blessed Be!

Birthday Celebrations with a Wiccan twist

fda3655eb95d0e5382cb502fa3c9ec85

Hi everyone! Tomorrow is my 21st birthday so I thought I might do a post on how to celebrate your birthday with a little bit of a Wiccan twist. Obviously the specifics will depend on the person and what time of year your birthday is.

Rituals

So there are definitely some rituals you can do for your birthday. You can do one as simple as making a wish as you blow out your candles on your cake or as in depth as a dedication ritual to the faith or to a specific deity.

Something that I think is really beautiful is the idea of dedicating yourself on your birthday. It is very symbolic of being reborn into your spiritual journey. How one does a dedication ritual is dependent on many things but firstly whether or not you’re in a coven or if you’re solitary. If you are in a coven you will likely have certain traditions for this sort of ritual. However if you are a solitary you will have a lot more options. I’m not one to follow a ritual word for word from the internet. I typically like to wing it myself and do whatever feels right. I do know that many people (especially those of you who are new to the path) like to have more specific instructions though so I will give a guideline as to how I would approach a self dedication and then leave a link or two to some as well.

When I do my self dedication ritual someday I envision myself being either in the forest or somewhere I can connect with all 4 elements. So for example camping in eyesight of a lake or ocean, with a bonfire, feeling the breeze against my skin. I would also do this at night as I feel a deep connection with the moon. I then would go on to talk to the universal energy source about what Wicca means to me and how it has affected my life. I then would talk about my desire to dedicate myself to the path. I would finish by thanking the universal energy source and then by meditating.

Here are some links to other dedication rituals to give you some more ideas.

Simple Wiccan Dedication Ritual

Witchcraft/Divination

So it’s your birthday (or someone you know’s birthday) and you want to add a little magick to the day. You can insert a little kitchen magick into their birthday cake ( click here for birthday magick ideas) or encourage them to make a wish on their birthday candles. Usually in Wicca we stay away from selfish magick but your birthday is all about you so if there is any magick (as long as it still harms none) that you want to do that may be more vain today is the day to do it.

Divination is also something you can do to celebrate your big day. Specifically what this near year as in store for you. There are tons of birthday tarot spreads on pinterest you can look at but I’ll leave two here for your leisure.

9e005f159063ea032da98d9cefd38ce5

ea13842a519d4ff616491564e4271c57

You can also do runes, scrying, tasseography, pendulum work, and any other divination you enjoy doing as well.

Gifts

If you’re the friend or family member of Wiccan and want to give them something related to their faith there are lots of options. For those of you who have the money to spend you could get them a new book about Wicca, you could get them something for their altar they’ve been talking about needing, you can give them a crystal you think they could benefit from, or help them stock up on their herbs. This year my partner got me a big cast iron cauldron, a lovely little book about the history and uses on cauldrons, and he got me incense to help heal the chakras. Don’t be afraid to ask the Wiccan in your life if there is anything they’ve wanted or needed for their faith.

Some of us though aren’t always in the spot to buy a gift. That’s totally okay, been there done that. You could go on a nature walk and see if you come across anything that is calling to be a gift. Maybe you find a feather, a pinecone, a beautiful stone, or a flower. Any of those things would make a beautiful gift. What I typically do when I am short on money is I will go to the dollarstore and get a little jar and then use materials I already have to make a jar spell. So I will think of something I want for my loved one (happiness for example) and I will look up all the different herbs, crystals, objects, etc that correspond with what I want to achieve and put it all in the container. If you want to see a post about jar spells let me know as I have made a few. You can also give someone a blessing. Example below from http://onespiritx.tripod.com/bless01.htm

May your spirit

soar gracefully

on the whispering breeze.

May your joy

run strong

as the deepest seas.

May your soul

reach out

to embrace the sky.

May your heart

guide you truly

as the years go by.

If you are gifted in anyway you can also use those gifts as a gift. So if you are great at a certain type of divination you could give them a reading. If you are trained in reiki you could give them a free session. You could offer to sage their home.

I hope you all enjoyed this today’s post and got some ideas for your own and for your loved ones’ birthdays. How do you celebrate your birthday? Let me know in the comments along with any other thoughts or questions you have for me. If you’re looking to give me a little gift for my big day you can always like, comment, subscribe and/or share my content (here on the blog, on twitter, or on my youtube. Until next time, Blessed Be!

Shopping list for the Beginner Witch/Wiccan

Hi everyone! A couple weeks ago my boyfriend gave me the great idea to do this post and I thought it sounded so much fun. However before we start, you must remember that this is a generalized list. Obviously some people aren’t going to need all of these things for their path and some will need things I didn’t mention. This list is solely going to be based around what I would want in a beginners shopping list. Also keep in mind you don’t need any of these things to call yourself a witch or wiccan. When I first started my journey all I had to work with were the yankee style candles I already owned, the spices and herbs already in my kitchen, and I went to the dollarstore and bought a tin pot to act as a cauldron.

Imbolc Ritual

So we have officially one every sabbat over the course of the year! Yes, this blog has been going for a year now! So I figured this year I would post a ritual for the sabbats. I’ve been thinking about maybe creating some rituals for you guys but today I have one from the internet (that I will include any modifications I think are needed for the low-budget wiccan). If you’d be interested in some original rituals from me let me know in the comments.

What you need

  • Seven candles, in red and white (tealights are perfect for this) Don’t worry about the colours if this is not what you have
  • Something to light your candles with
  • A large bowl or cauldron big enough to hold the candles
  • Sand or salt to fill the bottom of the bowl/cauldron

Ritual directions

If your tradition requires you to cast a circle, do so now. Pour the sand or salt into the bowl or cauldron. Place the seven candles into the sand so they won’t slide around. Light the first candle. As you do so, say:

Although it is now dark, I come seeking light.
In the chill of winter, I come seeking life.

Light the second candle, saying:

I call upon fire, that melts the snow and warms the hearth.
I call upon fire, that brings the light and makes new life.
I call upon fire to purify me with your flames.

Light the third candle. Say:

This light is a boundary, between positive and negative.
That which is outside, shall stay without.
That which is inside, shall stay within.

Light the fourth candle. Say:

I call upon fire, that melts the snow and warms the hearth.
I call upon fire, that brings the light and makes new life.
I call upon fire to purify me with your flames.

Light the fifth candle, saying:

Like fire, light and love will always grow.
Like fire, wisdom and inspiration will always grow.

Light the sixth candle, and say:

I call upon fire, that melts the snow and warms the hearth.
I call upon fire, that brings the light and makes new life.
I call upon fire to purify me with your flames.

Finally, light the last candle. As you do so, visualize the seven flames coming together as one. As the light builds, see the energy growing in a purifying glow.

Fire of the hearth, blaze of the sun,
cover me in your shining light.
I am awash in your glow, and tonight I am
made pure.

Take a few moments and meditate on the light of your candles. Think about this Sabbat, a time of healing and inspiration and purification. Do you have something damaged that needs to be healed? Are you feeling stagnant, for lack of inspiration? Is there some part of your life that feels toxic or tainted? Visualize the light as a warm, enveloping energy that wraps itself around you, healing your ailments, igniting the spark of creativity, and purifying that which is damaged.

When you are ready, end the ritual. You may choose to follow up with healing magic, or with a Cakes and Ale ceremony.

Here is the link to the original site if you’d like to see the history behind the ritual.

Green Obsidian

Green obsidian is used a lot during reiki to help balance the heart chakra specifically but also the throat chakra too. This stone removes hooks and ties caused from other people. It is great for treating the gallbladder and the heart. Not only is it great for relaxation and stress but it helps ease insomnia, protects you from nightmares, promotes the ability to flow with change, it promotes confidence, and helps you with the idea that everything is alright.

This stone is great for people who want personal counselling but don’t seem to be getting anywhere as it will help them really tackle their problems and help them become more self reliant. It is also great at keeping people away that will only drag you down with their own personal crises. Keep this crystal on you if you work with people (especially troubled ones) to keep your energies light and positive.

Lastly, if you worship Gaia, like myself, and you want to have some sort of tribute to her on your altar or make a little gaia jar this is a great crystal to put in it!

Matrons and Patrons

Hi everyone! Today I want to talk about Matrons and Patrons and what that’s all about. I remember when I first started my Wiccan journey I was very obsessed with figuring out my Matron. Having come from Christianity originally and wanting nothing to do with it, I wasn’t as interested in finding my patron because I had just come from a masculine dominated religion. All this talk of Matrons and Patrons and I still haven’t explained what they are though. So firstly, you can have more than just one each. A matron though is the main goddess(es) in your life (whether it be your whole life or just a portion of your life). A patron is the main god(s) in your life. And like the matron that god can be around for your whole life or for just a portion of your life. Also typically your matron and patron come from the same pantheon.

There a couple of methods to finding your matron and patron. A lot of the time your matron and patron find you. Some say signs from the god and goddess show up calling you to them. It could be symbols associated with them or animals. Some have dreams or visions about them. If you find that your matron or patron are not coming to you don’t feel bad about it. I didn’t feel like I was getting any signs either. Sometimes that means you just aren’t ready to work with deity or you could just be missing the signs. For those of us who are not as fortunate to see the signs there are other methods. You can try meditation. If you’re experienced with meditation you can do it on your own, if you aren’t (like myself) there are guided meditations for finding your matron and patron on youtube. I personally am garbage at meditation, guided or not, so this method didn’t work for me. You can study pantheons and see what you connect with. This will make your search a little easier. I have been deeply connected to greek mythology since I was in middle school so I always knew greek was my pantheon. What worked for me was doing a tarot spread. If you click this link this will bring you to the tarot spread I used matron/patron tarot spread.

My journey to finding my deities was a bit interesting and it was kinda what started me on my Wicca path as a whole. I was really searching for the religion that fit best with me. I had found Wicca and although the beliefs clicked with me I was hesitant to commit myself to it because of it being so taboo. One day the name Hecate came into my head. Just out of nowhere. I couldn’t get her name out of my head. I was meditating and envisioned a woman with black hair. This to me was some sort of proof to my logical brain. I couldn’t stop thinking about the goddess of Magick and mystic and there she is walking around in my mind. This must be it. And once all of that clicked, Hecate was out of my brain. I truly believe her sole purpose in my journey was to scream at me and say “hey you, this is legit, this is your path, now get to it”. But after Hecate did her job there really wasn’t any other gods or goddesses that stuck out to me. I wasn’t really seeing any signs…. And that wasn’t cutting it for me. I decided if they weren’t going to come to me I would come to them. So I did the spread from the link above and it gave me some direction. But now that I’m typing this I feel a calling to do this spread again. When I originally did this I was inexperienced, firstly in tarot and secondly with my spirituality. This spread did help me find Gaia who I work with very closely now. But other than that I find I don’t really experience any other deities that I pulled. So if you guys would be interested in seeing the results from that spread you should let me know in the comments and I’ll make a post about it. As of right now my Matron is 100% Gaia. I work with her in everything I do and I feel her presence all the time. As for my patron I don’t feel any strong ties to any deity. I do feel more of a pull to Pan than any other but even so that pull isn’t very strong currently.

Once you find your matron and/or patron it can be nice to set up an altar specifically for them or to incorporate them on your regular altar. It is also nice to do rituals for them. Something I really like about my relationship with Gaia is I can just take my pendulum out and she will have conversations with me and help me figure stuff out. I find her to be very nurturing and social. Whenever I see a squirrel or bird linger a little longer I know it’s her saying hi. I’m very thankful to have her in my life.

If you have any thoughts, questions, or want to see the results from my matron/patron spread let me know in the comments! Thanks for reading. Merry Meet and Blessed Be!
