Tarot Series~ Minor Arcana: Knight of Swords

63951679f53b24efd6f0ad0e2898a5bd

When pulled upright this card represents someone who is so focused on a certain idea, that they become oblivious to any difficulties; conflicts; or consequences it brings us, as they try to achieve it. This card is about someone full of life and energy but they need to make sure they are balancing themselves out with a good dose of compassion and responsibility. The person this card represents, is someone who once they have set their mind to something there is no stopping them. While this can be a great trait as it shows ambition and dedication it can also have some downfalls. Some of the things this person might be willing to do to achieve their goal could have some very serious consequences. They are likely prone to move ahead without any preparation or foresight, which can put them in a dangerous (or at the very least unpleasant) situation.

When pulled in reverse this card is about someone who is extremely impatient, impulsive, and full of energy. However unlike the person the upright card represents this person has no direction, despite their abundance in energy. This causes a lot of rash decisions which can drag others down with them. This person likely has a lot of scattered thoughts and they don’t tend to take the time to go through them and organize them. It is quite likely that they are a disorganized person. When they do finally have something they want to achieve with all that energy they have they are likely very unprepared due to this lack of organization.

Here is a tarot spread to help you find some direction for all that energy you have. First I would take out the knight of swords and meditate on it thinking about your directionless energy that you have. Then shuffle and pull the cards using your preferred method.

Tarot Series~Minor Arcana: Ten of Cups

1d1b0e7e1b2b05b9655d78979492865b

When pulled upright this card is a continuation of the good feelings from the nine of cups. This card is all about joy, happiness, contentment, and emotional satisfaction in the people you surround yourself with. This state you’re in is so ideal that you feel that you are in paradise. All of your wishes, needs, and wants have been fulfilled. Take this time to breath and be thankful for all that you have. This card shows us true emotional fulfillment. When you learned to love yourself the nine of cups became the ten of cups. This card is often thought to be connected to the phrase “happily ever after”. This card also talks about having a harmonious family. You are living in absolute peace. If this is a love reading this card shows that this is the real deal and could very well be something long-term. This card could also be suggesting you should take a family vacation so you can really just spend quality times with your loved ones.

When pulled in reverse this card is about how the connections and harmony within your family are being broken. This idealized image of the perfect family you had is either broken or wasn’t realistic from the get go. Rather than connecting and coming together you may find that you are becoming more distant and pulling apart. The happy moments that you were hoping for don’t seem to have met your expectations. Treat each other well and love each other too. This is the best way to achieve the harmonious living that you desire.

It would seem that the 10 of cups upright is the kind of life most of us aim to live. I thought, for those of us not quite there, a good step to getting there would be to learn to love ourselves a little more. Here is a tarot spread to help with your self love. First I would take out the 10 of cups and meditate on it while thinking about all the reasons you are worthy of your own love. Then shuffle and pull the cards using your preferred method.

Tarot Series~Minor Arcana: Knight of Wands

ae28e4600a6e6e23be121599b5962249

When pulled upright it is about it being a great time to go and travel. You should feel charged with life and feel ready to go get things done. You are adventurous and can find something fun to do regardless of the situation. When you get this card prepare to be entertained. This card means there won’t be a dull moment. This card also suggests you want to get something important done. This card could also be saying you may be moving to a new home soon. If you are starting a new project you should do so with lots of enthusiasm and energy. Don’t go too crazy though, stay balanced and keep your goals realistic. And of course all actions have consequences so have a plan in place for those consequences. This card can also be about an event that you don’t expect to happen in the near future. If you pull the knight of wands with the eight of wands prepare for a lot of changes in your life. The knight of cards often represents a quick change (job, residence, etc).

When pulled in reverse this card is about being frustrated and experiencing a lot of delays. You may be feeling like you aren’t getting anywhere and are feeling angry about it. This card can also be about losing power. Due to over-compensating for this lose of power you may become negative and lose some self-esteem.

I thought a fun spread for today would be one about travel! So first I would pull the knight of wands out and meditate on it while thinking of travelling. The shuffle and pull the cards using your preferred method.

Working for a Christian Family

Hello everyone! I thought today it would be interesting to give my take on what it is like working for a Christian family. Now I am lucky in saying that the family I have been working for are pretty open-minded, in the sense that they don’t care what I believe, even if they think what I believe is a load of crap. However, it has still presented me with some interesting situations.

I have been working for this family for about 4 months. I am a nanny for their elementary aged daughter. The first month and a half I spent with them we were actually travelling all over northern USA. It was actually a lot of fun. Even at the first week my lack of Christian faith brought up some challenges. At this time their daughter was very religious and was shocked that I did not share her belief in God. She kept asking me about church. I would always say that I think it is great that she enjoys going but that it wasn’t my cup of tea. One time when it was just me and her, God came up again. I proceeded to say that I wasn’t Christian but that I thought it was super cool she was and that everyone should be able to believe in what they want. She essentially told me I had to believe in God because if not I would go to hell. I know she wasn’t trying to be rude or anything. She simply didn’t want me to go to hell, but this conversation happened a number of times. It was very uncomfortable.

Later on the trip it was naturally brought up that I am Wiccan. The family was actually rather interested to hear what that meant. I explained it to them (however I did leave out the magick aspect of the religion). They thought that a lot of our beliefs were actually quite similar despite the different religions and then it wasn’t really brought up again.

After we got home I started watching this child about 2 times during the work week and then most weekends (plus or minus some days depending on the week). So I had a few holidays (Mabon and Samhain) that happened while watching her. Due to this I would celebrate the holidays with her. Mind you, I didn’t do any rituals or anything with her. I only went on sabbat walks or had big meals, stuff like that. I was trying to really make sure I didn’t overstep and make her family feel like I was trying to convert her. At one point I was bringing my tarot cards over to her house so when she was in bed I could do a reading for this blog. She asked me what they were and I answered her. She told her parents and was told she wasn’t allowed to use them. So ever since then I have been hesitant to bring them over, hence why the Sunday readings haven’t been happening.

As for the latest development in this story, this is where the majority of the issues have arisen. This child is very curious and she has lots of questions. She asks me a lot of questions about various things that I believe in. Some examples are: who we worship, what I think of angels, spirit guides, magick, fairies (and other creatures from other realms). This weekend she told me that she didn’t like Christianity and that she was really interested in exploring Wicca. Now if my child told me they wanted to explore other religions I would be totally fine with it. I think all people, regardless of age, should be able to decide for themselves what they believe. However, I know this family has quite a different mindset and would be very mad if they found out otherwise. Luckily, last weekend was my last time working for that family and I can only hope that for her sake (and mine as I am friends with this family) that she forgets about Wicca, at least for now, and continues her Christian faith until she is a bit older.

That’s it for this week. Thank you for reading! Has your religion every effected you professionally? Tell me about it in the comments along with any other thoughts or questions you have. Also, let me know if you’d like to see Sunday tarot readings come back, now that I am done working Sunday’s in a Christian environment. Make sure you follow me here and on twitter so you get notifications when I post and upload videos to youtube. Until next time, Merry Meet and Blessed Be!

11 Signs You’re a Rainbow Child

Blessed Samhain! This week we are going to go back to looking at the different types of starseeds. Today we will talk about the last one of the main three. So far we have talked about indigo children and crystal children. This week we are talking about rainbow children. So if you have read my other posts about starseeds, you’ll know I think my brother is an Indigo child and I think I am a crystal child. I also think my sister is a rainbow child. So as I tell you the signs of a rainbow child I will tell you how I think my sister fits each description and essentially use her as an example.

So what is a rainbow child? Rainbow children are here to help heal the earth and bring back balance between earth and humans. Rainbow children have very high vibrations and will create almost a web that surrounds the earth. Rainbow children are also considered light workers. Unlike indigos and crystals who have to do certain actions to achieve their goals here on earth, rainbows simply need to exist to do their work. Below are 11 signs you could be a rainbow child.

#1 A rainbow child is usually born to a crystal parent

While this may be true, I think the situation might be a bit different in our home. I think instead of being born to a crystal parent she was born into the home of a crystal. I am 7 years older than my sister and was a huge part of how she was raised. I think that was an equal substitute in our situation.

#2 Rainbows are typically born into stable homes

I actually learned that indigos usually chose dysfunctional families. This all makes a crazy amount of sense for my family. My brother was born a year before my parents divorced and my sister wasn’t born until my mother remarried and has been with this man ever since.

#3 They are usually psychic or very intuitive

My sister says she often has dreams and that whatever happens in them often manifests itself in real life.

#4 They are hyperactive or have high energy. You may see them running, hopping, skipping, or jumping everywhere they go

This is very true for my sister. She has such high energy, that as a crystal child who is very introverted, that it is very very overwhelming sometimes. She is always running around the house and being silly.

#5 They are passionate, creative, and enthusiastic

My sister is a brilliant artist. She also loves to sing. And when she finds something she is interested in she is passionate and enthusiastic about it for a long time. She was really interested in oracle/tarot a little while ago. She is obsessed with crystals.

#6 You will never feel judged by a rainbow child

My sister is the most open-minded and kindest person I know. I can tell her anything and she has never judged me or told me she thinks something is dumb or silly. She embraces everything and is just excited that I am happy.

#7 They are not competitive

This is one thing that doesn’t align with my sister. She is one of the most competitive people I know. However she is competitive not because she has a high ego or wants others to be less good then here. Instead she uses competition to motivate her. Competition makes helps make her the best her there is.

#8 They are strong-willed

This ties in to her competitiveness. She knows what she wants and what she needs and she will do anything to get those things. If she knows she can be better at basketball she will be determined and keep working until she does it.

#9 They were born around the 2000’s

This is accurate as well as my sister was born in 2005.

#10 They recover quickly from negative emotions

I have rarely seen my sister in a bad mood. Unless our brother is being annoying she is very good at jumping out of bad moods. She is usually happy whenever I talk to her.

#11 The typically have balanced male and female energies

I can’t really vouch for this one with her because this is something only she can feel. However this is thought to be why there are more gender neutral people these days. My sister though does have a pretty balanced interest in “girly” things and “tomboy” things.
