Tips

If you believe that consecrating your magickal tools makes them more powerful then why not do the same with your school tools. Consecrate your pens, pencils, ruler, calculator, scribblers, etc to make them more powerful!

If you live in dorms and have a roommate then having a permanent altar may not to realistic for you. So having a temporary altar may be more up your speed. You can keep all your altar tools in a shoe box and no one would be the wiser.

If you worship deities then you can also pray to get the support you need with school. I would find the deity in your pantheon that deals with the more logical aspects of life and pray to them. Some examples of deities you may want to pray to are Athena, Lugh, Seshat, Saraswati, Odin, etc.

I also recommend that you meditate. Meditating when you’re overwhelmed, having a hard time focusing, or right before a big test can be super helpful. It clears your mind of all the useless crap and lets you tune in to what is really important.

I’d love to do more school related posts/videos if anyone has anything they’d like to request (spells, how to be a closeted wiccan in secondary and post secondary school, etc). However that is all for today. I hope this helps you a bit this school year. Make sure you follow me here and on instagram so you get notifications when I post and when I upload videos to youtube. Shopping list for the Beginner Witch/Wiccan

Hi everyone! A couple weeks ago my boyfriend gave me the great idea to do this post and I thought it sounded so much fun. However before we start, you must remember that this is a generalized list. Obviously some people aren’t going to need all of these things for their path and some will need things I didn’t mention. This list is solely going to be based around what I would want in a beginners shopping list. Also keep in mind you don’t need any of these things to call yourself a witch or wiccan. When I first started my journey all I had to work with were the yankee style candles I already owned, the spices and herbs already in my kitchen, and I went to the dollarstore and bought a tin pot to act as a cauldron.

Lavender

642x361_What_Lavender_Can_Do_for_You

Lavender has numerous associations; some of which are listed below.

Planet: Mercury

Element: Air

Astrological sign: Virgo

Macgick: Sleep, long life, peace, wishes, protection, love, purification, visions, attracting men, clarity of thought.

There are various uses for lavender in a magickal sense. For example, lavender can be used as an herb to infuse water that is being used to purify objects and spaces. Dried lavender sticks can be burned for smudging and as incense. It is used in spells for sharpening the mind, to encourage and strengthen pure love, and to encourage fertility. You can also use lavender in diffusers or in a bath to help with stress or depression. It can be used as well in spells or by stuffing it in a pillow to aid in sleep and sooth headaches. Lavender is an herb often used by people who do necromancy. It is a good herb to use to get in touch with spirits, to send them messages, and it is said carrying lavender, on your person, can improve your ability to see them.

Hope you guys enjoyed this addition to our book of shadows. What do you use lavender for? Let me know in the comments along with any other thoughts or comments you have. Chakras: The Third Eye and The Crown Chakras

So in the last two weeks we’ve talked about what chakras are as a whole and specifically about the root, sacral, navel, heart, and throat chakras. You can check out those two posts here Chakras: The Root and Sacral Chakras and here Chakras: The Navel, Heart, and Throat Chakras. This week we’ll be talking about the last two chakras: the third eye and the crown chakras.

The Third Eye

Third-eye-chakra-1

Element: Light

The Third eye is all about intuition and visualization.

When open: you will have a well developed sense of intuition.

When under-active: You aren’t very good at thinking for yourself and tend to depend on those of higher authority to make decisions. Your thinking is rigid as you tend to rely on your beliefs too much. You may find you are easily confused.

When over-active: You tend to live in a fantasy world.

Healing and Balancing the third eye chakra:

  1. Reiki
  2. Crystal healing (amethyst, purple fluorite, moonstone, quartz, lapis lazuli, and howlite chakra stone)
  3. Essential oils (juniper, clary sage, rosemary, sandalwood, lemon, thyme)
  4. Chakra mudra ( On your right hand touch the tips of your thumb; index; and middle fingers together, curl in ring finger, and extend your pinky. Touch the tips of the thumb, index, and middle fingers to the space between your brow. You can leave the left hand palm up on your left thigh.)
  5. Chakra sound Therapy (The sound SHAM is the mantra that connects with the third eye. The vibrations of the mantra match perfectly with the vibrations of the third eye)
  6. Meditation (Envision a bright ball of violet light at the space between your brows. Imagine it getting brighter and brighter as it makes it’s way down the throat, heart, navel, pelvis, the base of your spine, and down your legs to your feet. You can also practice the chakra mudra and mantra during your meditation.)
  7. Natural healing methods (basking in the sun, lying quietly with an eye pillow, logic puzzle, brain training exercises)

The Crown Chakra

The crown chakra is all about wisdom and being one of this world.

When open: You hold no prejudice and are aware of the world around you and yourself.

When under-active: You are not spiritually aware. You are likely very rigid in the way you think.

When over-active: You are addicted to spirituality. You aren’t grounded and are likely ignoring bodily needs.

Healing and balancing the crown chakra:

  1. Reiki
  2. Crystal healing (citrine, topaz, tiger eye, and yellow jasper)

See it get brighter as it goes down your forehead, throat, heart, navel, pelvis, to the base of your spine, down your legs, and out your feet. You are encased in the bright white light. You can also do the chakra mantra and/or mudra during this time.)

Chakras: The Root and Sacral Chakras

What-Is-Chakra-1

Chakras were the very first “pagan” idea that I ever connected with. Even when I considered myself a Christian, who did not believe in anything metaphysical that wasn’t part of the bible, this was a concept I was continuously drawn to. What got me started with chakras is this test https://www.eclecticenergies.com/chakras/chakratest I used to take it every couple months to see if my chakras were more balanced. I think at the end of the day a test can’t be totally accurate but I think it’s a good starting point to see where you need to improve.

What are the chakras? Firstly, there are 7 of them. They are balls of energy in various locations in your body that affect you physically, emotionally/mentally, and spiritually. There are 3 different states of our chakras: over-active, under-active, and balanced. When you have a chakra that is over-active you’ll often find one under-active to compensate. The goal is to have all 7 chakras balanced equally. To balance the chakras one must start from the bottom and make your way to the top. Like anything in order for success you must start with a good foundation. The 7 chakras are the root, sacral, navel, heart, throat, third eye, and crown chakras. In this post I will break down the different attributes of the chakras and ways we may balance each one.

The Root Chakra

Root-chakra

Colour: Red

Located: Base of the Spine

Element: Earth

This chakra is about being physically and feeling at home in all situations

When opened: You will feel grounded and secure. You will feel a sense of stability. You know who to trust. You’re thinking in the present and are connected to your physical body.

When under-active: You will feel nervous and fearful. You have a hard time feeling welcomed. You lack that feeling of belonging and security.

When over-active: You may find yourself being greedy and materialistic. You may have a fear of change and obsess over having a sense of security.

Healing and balancing the root chakra:

  1. Reiki
  2. Crystal healing (stones such as mahogany obsidian, red tigers eyes, hematite, tourmaline, red carnelian, and red jasper)
  3. Essential oils (oils such as ylang-ylang, myrrh, patchouli, vetiver, rosewood, thyme, frankincense, ginger)
  4. Chakra mudra (Gayan mudra is used for activating the root chakra. To preform it you need to touch the tip of your thumb and index finger together)
  5. Chakra sound therapy (the sound “LAM” is the mantra that connects with the first chakra. The frequency of “LAM” matches perfectly to heal the chakra)
  6. Meditation (you can imagine a red ball of light at the base of your spine and then imagine this light extending down your legs and to your feet. You can also practice the mudra and mantra during meditation)
  7. Natural healing methods (gardening, mountain hiking, and other activities that connect you with the earth and nature).

The Sacral Chakra

Sacral-chakra

Colour: Orange

Located: Lower Abdomen/pelvis

Element: Water

This Chakra is about feeling and sexuality.

When open: You are able to express your emotions freely without being overemotional. You open yourself up to intimacy and passion. You are comfortable with your sexuality and sexuality as a whole.

When under-active: You tend to be more cold and unemotional. You aren’t one to open yourself up to others.

When over-active: You are over-emotional and get attached to others easily. You also may be overtly excessively sexual.

Healing and balancing the sacral chakra:

  1. Reiki
  2. Crystal healing (crystals such as citrine, moonstone, amber, tangerine quartz, sunstone, carnelian, and orange calcite)
  3. Essential oils (oils such as tangerine, neroli, jasmine, rosewood, clary sage, grape, bergamot, and geranium)
  4. Chakra mudra (To activate the sacral mudra put your hands on your lap, palms up, on top of each other with your left hand underneath)
  5. chakra sound therapy (the sound “VAM” is the mantra that connects with the second chakra. The frequency of “VAM” perfectly matches to heal the chakra)
  6. Meditation (imagine a bright orange ball of energy in your pelvis and imagine it making it’s way down the base of your spine and down your legs to your feet. You can also practice the sacral mudra and mantra while meditating)
  7. Natural Healing Methods (spend time by the ocean, lake or river; take walks by the water or sit with it in view; go wading or swimming)

So there is an overview of what chakras are, specifics on the root chakra and the sacral chakra. Next week I’ll continue talking about the navel, heart, and throat chakras.
