Thyme

Thyme is an herb that is associated with the water element and the planet venus. The gods/goddesses it is connected to are Freya, Ares, and Aphrodite.

When it is used in spells it is used to increase strength and courage. If you’re working on something that seems unachievable you can use thyme in a spell to keep a positive attitude. If you find your home has a lot of melancholy, hopelessness, or only mellow negative energies you can wash your floors with thyme infused water or burn the thyme to smudge your home. If you find yourself having restless sleeps or nightmares you can put thyme under your pillow. You can wear or burn thyme to bring good health, increase psychic abilities and to make a woman more alluring. You can also take a ritual bath infused with thyme to cleanse any of your sorrows or regrets. Make sure to grow thyme in your garden for good wealth. It is said as thyme grows in your garden so does your wealth. Also, if you enjoy gambling then you want to make sure you have some thyme on you as it is thought to improve luck.

If you enjoy working with faeries you should keep thyme around and grow it in your garden as faeries really like this herb. If you would like to communicate with faeries I recommend you incorporate thyme into a spell.

Working for a Christian Family

Hello everyone! I thought today it would be interesting to give my take on what it is like working for a Christian family. Now I am lucky in saying that the family I have been working for are pretty open-minded, in the sense that they don’t care what I believe, even if they think what I believe is a load of crap. However, it has still presented me with some interesting situations.

I have been working for this family for about 4 months. I am a nanny for their elementary aged daughter. The first month and a half I spent with them we were actually travelling all over northern USA. It was actually a lot of fun. Even at the first week my lack of Christian faith brought up some challenges. At this time their daughter was very religious and was shocked that I did not share her belief in God. She kept asking me about church. I would always say that I think it is great that she enjoys going but that it wasn’t my cup of tea. One time when it was just me and her, God came up again. I proceeded to say that I wasn’t Christian but that I thought it was super cool she was and that everyone should be able to believe in what they want. She essentially told me I had to believe in God because if not I would go to hell. I know she wasn’t trying to be rude or anything. She simply didn’t want me to go to hell, but this conversation happened a number of times. It was very uncomfortable.

Later on the trip it was naturally brought up that I am Wiccan. The family was actually rather interested to hear what that meant. I explained it to them (however I did leave out the magick aspect of the religion). They thought that a lot of our beliefs were actually quite similar despite the different religions and then it wasn’t really brought up again.

After we got home I started watching this child about 2 times during the work week and then most weekends (plus or minus some days depending on the week). So I had a few holidays (Mabon and Samhain) that happened while watching her. Due to this I would celebrate the holidays with her. Mind you, I didn’t do any rituals or anything with her. I only went on sabbat walks or had big meals, stuff like that. I was trying to really make sure I didn’t overstep and make her family feel like I was trying to convert her. At one point I was bringing my tarot cards over to her house so when she was in bed I could do a reading for this blog. She asked me what they were and I answered her. She told her parents and was told she wasn’t allowed to use them. So ever since then I have been hesitant to bring them over, hence why the Sunday readings haven’t been happening.

As for the latest development in this story, this is where the majority of the issues have arisen. This child is very curious and she has lots of questions. She asks me a lot of questions about various things that I believe in. Some examples are: who we worship, what I think of angels, spirit guides, magick, fairies (and other creatures from other realms). This weekend she told me that she didn’t like Christianity and that she was really interested in exploring Wicca. Now if my child told me they wanted to explore other religions I would be totally fine with it. I think all people, regardless of age, should be able to decide for themselves what they believe. However, I know this family has quite a different mindset and would be very mad if they found out otherwise. Luckily, last weekend was my last time working for that family and I can only hope that for her sake (and mine as I am friends with this family) that she forgets about Wicca, at least for now, and continues her Christian faith until she is a bit older.

That’s it for this week. Thank you for reading! Has your religion every effected you professionally? Tell me about it in the comments along with any other thoughts or questions you have. Also, let me know if you’d like to see Sunday tarot readings come back, now that I am done working Sunday’s in a Christian environment. What Messages do Butterflies Have for us?

Before we start I just wanted to say thank you to all my followers as I am only one follow away from having 50! This is so exciting. I hope you guys are all enjoying my content and maybe we’ll do something fun (like a video or something) when I get to 50. Now, on with the post!

During different times in our lives we may notice that certain animals may present themselves to you either very frequently (more than normal) or in a unique way. When this happens it is pretty safe to say that you are trying to be given a message. This message could be from your spirit guides, a deities, just the earth as a whole, or anything really. I know it is summer time so butterflies are everywhere but I feel like I am seeing more than I normally do and I just have a gut feeling that all these butterflies mean something specific to me.

I already know that Aphrodite is a goddess that is part of my path. I’ve seen her in my meditations when I was learning reiki and butterflies are one of her symbols so I really feel like the message I’m receiving is from her. So given all this I thought it would be fun to write about what messages butterflies bring, so anyone else who is experiencing all the butterflies can understand what is trying to be said.

When you see the butterfly in your life you’re receiving a message about important physical and emotional changes that will transform your life. The butterfly reminds us to be positive and joyful during these changes. Butterflies also tend to gather around true love between people.

The butterfly could also be a message from a passed over love one, telling you that they are happy and safe.

Different coloured butterflies can also mean different things. I haven’t noticed a colour pattern so I think my message is simply one of change but for those of you noticing certain colours here is a guide for you.

White: blessed relationships and natural balance

Orange and black: find courage and strength to get through the changes happening in your life. Orange butterflies work closely with people who are or know someone in distress.

Orange and brown: symbolizes a conflict at hand and to be cautious in heated situations.

Blue: this butterfly sends a messaging of healing possibly for yourself or for someone you know. If it lands on you it means it recognizes you are a spirit of light. If you see them in your garden is means there are nymphs and/or faeries living in your garden.

Black and white: a great transformation is going to happen in ones life where all things can change in all areas of your life.

Yellow: a message of happiness, strength, and hope through adversity, getting through challenges, and a good sign that everything will work out in the end. Two yellow butterflies around each other is the sign for young love. If one is in your house take it as a blessing and a sign to bring plants in your home.

Green: Associated with the nature, mother earth, and all the elements. In a dream it can mean new friendship and love is on the way.

I hope you have found this helpful and thank you for reading. Have you been getting any messages lately? Let me know in the comments along with any other thoughts or questions! Wheel of the Year: Litha

So tomorrow is Litha/Midsummer/Summer Solstice so now is a better time than any to talk about what Litha is and what we do to celebrate!

So Litha is celebrated on the summer solstice of each year which is June 21st. This day is the opposite of Yule and celebrates the longest day of the year. On this day the sun god is at his peak and is at his strongest. The Goddess is very pregnant at this point which can be seen in our fields and gardens as crops are in the midst of growing. And while we are excited about the strength of the god and the pregnancy of the goddess we are sad because after this day the god will only become weaker until his death on Samhain.

Some ways to celebrate on this day are to light a bonfire in tribute of the sun god, place an offering in a body of water to encourage water supply to the thirsty crops, watch the litha sunrise and sunset, charge your crystals in the magickal energy of the sun, create a magick wand, leap the bonfire for luck and health in the coming year, wear a crown of flowers in your hair. Now is also a great time to try and see the fae. Keep an eye out especially around your garden. This is a traditional time to either dedicate yourself the god and goddess or to renew your vows to them.

Now is a good time to celebrate deities such as these:

Father Gods and Mother Goddesses, Pregnant Goddesses and Sun Deities. Particular emphasis might be placed on the Goddesses Aphrodite, Astarte, Freya, Hathor, Ishtar, Venus and other Goddesses who preside over love, passion and beauty. Other Litha deities include Athena, Artemis, Dana, Kali, Isis, Juno, Apollo, Dagda, Gwydion, Helios, Llew, Oak Holly King, Lugh, Ra, Sol, Zeus, Prometheus, Ares, Mother Earth, Father Sun, the fey, fairy folkand Thor.

And as I always say on any sabbat it is customary to perform a ritual (Midsummer/Litha Ritual), go for a nature walk, eat food in season, do divination and/or magick for healing, growth, empowerment, and love.

Thanks for reading! What are you going to do to celebrate this Litha? Let me know in the comments along with any other thoughts or questions you may have. Also don’t forget to follow me here and on twitter to get notifications when I post! I hope you have a lovely Litha! Until next time, Merry Meet and Blessed Be.

Wheel of the Year: Beltane

Hi guys! Beltane is coming up so it’s time to continue our talk about the sabbats!

Beltane is celebrated April 30th and/or May 1st. It is also known as may day. The God is officially matured. At this time we are celebrating the union of the god and goddess and between man and woman. Now is a popular time for handfasting (wiccan marriages). At this time we celebrate fertility because now is the time animals are mating and for new beginnings. We also celebrate our sexuality at this time.

To celebrate we celebrate by braiding our hair, dancing around the may pole, and having bonfires. And like all our holidays we take a walk to see how nature is changing throughout the year. This holiday is great for celebrating with a group of people. In some cities you may find public Beltane celebrations that you can go to. I’d highly suggest checking it out. I hope to have the opportunity to someday. On Beltane it is thought that the veil between our realm and the fae realm are thin so now is your best chance of seeing fairies. You can encourage them to come by making them a little home outside and leaving out honey and milk.

Goddesses that are usually celebrated around this time are but not limited to: Artemis (Greek), Demeter (Greek), Flora (Roman), Hera (Greek), Persephone (Greek), Sheela-na-Gig (Celtic), Xochiquetzal (Aztec)

Gods that are usually celebrated around this time are but not limited to: Bes (Egyptian), Bacchus (Roman)/Dionysus (Greek), Cernunnos (Celtic), Kokopelli (Hopi), Pan (Greek), Priapus (Greek)

As always on the Sabbat it is customary to preform a ritual to honour the God and the Goddess. Now is also a good time to do divination on what the spring holds for you. Also if you like to do magick on the sabbat now is a great time for fertility and sex magick.

Thanks for reading! Please leave in the comments how you’ll be celebrating this years Beltane. Also if you’d like to see a Beltane ritual I have done and really enjoyed check out this post Wiccan Rituals (Beltane ritual included). The Fae Realm

So first of all lets start by saying although most Wiccans believe in the Fae realm not all do. I personally don’t know how I feel about the fae realm. I know there are certain aspects of it that I connect more to than others but regardless of my beliefs I have the facts from those who do believe as I do a lot of research.

In the Fae realm there are 3 main types of creatures. There are fairies, elementals, and tree spirits. In these 3 categories there are various different creatures but before we get to that we should talk more about them as whole.

Firstly when in ritual or when doing spell work you can summon friends from the Fae to help you. In general though you do not want to summon them into your circle but rather to the outside of them because they can be rather mischievous.

Each category of Fae have different skills and personality traits. The fairies are flower fairies, mermaids, mermen, little people, sprites, pixies, elves etc. They come in all different shapes and sizes. They can come like the cute fairies you see on tv, they can be more humanesque, they can be kinda ugly too. They can change their shape to match their environment. When summoning them to your circle it is best to keep them on the outside of the circle as they are mischievous and can mess around with the energy you’re raising. They are easiest to contact at dawn, dusk, noon, and midnight. The best days are are the equinoxes and solstices. Some indications the fairies have joined you is when your candle flame starts to dance for no other reason or sometimes you can feel a crawling sensation on your arm. Their skills lie in healing, metalworking, and all arts. You can call fairies into your home and they will guard it and make sure nothing goes wrong but be prepared for mischief. They may borrow/hide your earrings, make your keys disappear just when you need them. They’re also really hard to get rid of if you decide you no longer want them around. They could stay for a very long time. Some ways to attract the fairies to your yard is to leave offerings of milk and sweets, you can also build a little fairy home to leave in the yard, there are also fairy chants you can do.

Wiccan Series (Part 16): The Fae Realm

The elementals are Sylphs, Salamanders, Undines, and Gnomes. You can also summon elementals to your circles but you don’t want to invite them in. You can invite them to guard your circle from any negative energy. Some people think we are all assigned elemental(s) at birth to watch over us. They are not compassionate creatures and like fairies don’t like to be thanked. They would rather a gift like milk, honey, coins, or small shiny objects.

Sylphs:

They are a force of air. They can be a gentle breeze or even a tornado. They are associated with our thoughts and mental development. They can spur and activate your imagination. They can also carry a message from you to another person’s sylph.

Salamanders:

They live anywhere where there is fire: the core of the earth, a candle, the sun. Great to summon if you need help with sexuality or love. They will help build your passion, vitality, enthusiasm, and spirituality. The can be difficult to control.

Undines:

They live in water: oceans, rivers, drops of rain. They are good at helping with healing, purification, creativity, or emotional issues. Usually they are in female form. They can awaken our empathy, imagination, and intuition.

Gnomes:

They are part of the earth. They maintain geological structures. They are associated with sensation and fertility. They can help you with growth, nurturing, abundance, fertility, or prosperity. They give the rocks and crystals their own unique energy. They are skilled craftspeople and can lend us endurance and persistence.

Tree spirits:

Each tree spirit has it’s own personality depending on the type of tree. You can work with a willow to learn to become more bending, forgiving, and adaptable. You can work with oak to for strength, wisdom, and steadfastness. You can work with a redwood to help with longevity, wisdom, and issues of aging.

So there you have it. There is the basics of the Fae realm! Feel free to leave any thoughts or questions in the comments. Merry Meet and Blesses Be!
