Mental Illness Ritual Bath

Hi everyone. Today I wanted to talk about something that affects me. I want to talk about mental illness. However I want to make some disclaimers before I start. Firstly I want to talk about what I am referring to when I say I am affected by mental illness. When it comes to physical sickness there are certain things you go to the hospital for and some things your don’t. A regular cold or a little flu are not hospital worthy. Despite that though you are still sick. When I think of how mental illness affects me I think of it as I have the cold (and occasionally flu) equivalent of mental illness. Do I need meds and a therapist for it? No. Do I still feel unwell? Yes. So I just wanted to put that out there before anyone questions me on just how severe my mental illness is or whatever. My second disclaimer is this: Nothing I say in this post is going to cure your mental illness. May it help you cope? sure. Could it potentially alleviate some symptoms or at least make them slightly more bearable? Maybe, but no promises. Everyone’s journey is different. And I just hope that maybe you can get something out of this.

When it comes to me I always (especially in the mornings) have a higher than average anxiety level, for no good reason at all. And every once in a while I’ll experience symptoms of depression. Usually I’ll be very irritable and very low energy. Last week and the week before I was experiencing this. And by the end of last week I decided enough was enough and that I was going to try and do something to get out of this funk. So I made a ritual self love/happiness bath. I would like to share it with you. I feel that this is a mix of both a spell and a ritual so I will leave this in both of those sections in our BoS.

preview

Ingredients:

  • Epsom salt
  • Lavender
  • Rose quartz
  • Green Kyanite
  • Green Obsidian
  • Amythest
  • Some seashells
  • Yellow Candle
  • Incense (I used one that’s for the heart chakra)

Steps to making the ritual bath:

  1. Sage your crystals and yourself
  2. In some sort of container (I used my big cauldron) mix together the lavender, the epsom salt, the crystals, and the shells while thinking about the intention of your bath
  3. With the bathroom lights off start running your bath and add the ingredients to the water
  4. Have your candle and incense on the bathtub ledge or nearby.
  5. Once in the tub light the candle and the incense
  6. Call upon whoever you wish and ask them to help you find the joy you’ve been lacking and to give you the strength to get through the rough time you’re experiencing. I called upon Gaia and Aphrodite.
  7. Enjoy your bath, you could meditate, do a face mask, watch your favourite show, read a book, whatever brings you joy.
  8. Thank whoever you called upon when you are done.

If you desire to have a sacred circle feel free, you can also make the water sacred by adding rosemary. I don’t always feel the need to do sacred circles especially when I am doing impromptu rituals/spells (like I was in this situation). Please feel free to share your journey with us, or any spells/rituals that you do to aid in your mental health down below, along with any other thoughts or questions you may have. Tarot Series~Minor Arcana: Queen of Cups

Crystal Visions - Queen of Cups

When pulled upright this card is about a person who is compassionate, caring, sensitive, and nurturing. It can also be referring to someone who you are, or will be, connecting to on an emotional level. When you get this card it could be a suggestion for you to find and accept help from others. When you get this card it is most often referring to a female who will be entering into your life. This card also refers to a someone who is highly intuitive. The card also asks you to trust your inner voice. You should take the time to really focus on your emotional health before you try and tackle others issues. Self love is crucial to become more compassionate. This card can also be in reference to your relationships. You may be someone else’s rock and are what keeps them going. It could also be here to say you are here to teach others with your intuition rather than your logic. This card describes someone who thinks with their heart rather than their mind. It also describes someone who is not very rational nor has much common sense. They are more intuitive, dreamy, and psychic. If the logical approach isn’t working for you the queen of cups could be your answer.

When pulled in reverse this card is about someone who is not very in-tune with their emotions. You may feel restricted in how you can express the way you feel. You are likely prone to bottling up how you feel however this is not effective. It will be very damaging and you can expect to boil over and lashout. You may also have high levels of stress that you are unsure of how to cope with. On the other hand this card can be suggesting that you are letting your mind wander too far and your imagination is getting away from you. Despite that you mean well you should take a moment and think about whether or not you can trust your emotions as you are likely letting them control you. Really think about whether the dreams you have can be turned into a reality. You should try and stabilize your emotions so you know when your emotions are getting the best of you.

Here is a tarot spread for those of you not sure what you’re feeling inside and what emotions aren’t worth your energy. First I would take the queen of cups out of the deck and meditate on it while really focusing on your feelings. Then shuffle and pull the cards using your preferred method.

Green Obsidian

Green obsidian is used a lot during reiki to help balance the heart chakra specifically but also the throat chakra too. This stone removes hooks and ties caused from other people. It is great for treating the gallbladder and the heart. Not only is it great for relaxation and stress but it helps ease insomnia, protects you from nightmares, promotes the ability to flow with change, it promotes confidence, and helps you with the idea that everything is alright.

This stone is great for people who want personal counselling but don’t seem to be getting anywhere as it will help them really tackle their problems and help them become more self reliant. It is also great at keeping people away that will only drag you down with their own personal crises. Keep this crystal on you if you work with people (especially troubled ones) to keep your energies light and positive.

Lastly, if you worship Gaia, like myself, and you want to have some sort of tribute to her on your altar or make a little gaia jar this is a great crystal to put in it!

An Interview: A wiccan dating an Agnostic

So I did an interview on myself but I am a wiccan dating an agnostic. Keep your eyes peeled for an interview I did on my boyfriend on what it is like being agnostic and dating a wiccan.

What did you think your partner thought Wicca was before they knew your faith?

I thought my partner would think that Wicca was a cult of people that believed they could do magic like Harry Potter. That it would be more “hocus pocus” than Christianity (which is what I formerly believed in).

Were you surprised by your partners reaction to you being Wiccan?

I wasn’t overly surprised by his reaction. He in general is a judgey person but at the same time he isn’t mean. So although you can see the judgement in his eyes, he never said anything mean. This judgement though wasn’t about Wicca exclusively. It is about religion as a whole.

What’s your favourite part about having an agnostic partner?

My favourite thing about my partner being agnostic is that while he doesn’t believe in what I do he doesn’t think that I am crazy. He believes that it is all possible.

What is the most challenging thing about having an agnostic partner?

Often times I feel isolated because I can’t talk to him about my religion and have him understand. So I either have to keep everything to myself or tell him for the sake of telling someone even though he is just listening without comprehending.

Do you like it when your agnostic partner partakes in your celebrations? Why or why not?

I like it when he partakes in activities like egg dying, bread making, nature walks, and stuff like that. It makes me happy having someone to celebrate with and have fun with. On the other hand though, I would not want him to do a ritual with me. That has a lot more to do with worshipping deities that he doesn’t believe in so I would feel really awkward if he attended one unless he specifically asked to.

Do you do spells or divination for your agnostic partner?

I have not done any spells for my partner. I don’t know if he wants me to and I haven’t had a need or guts to ask him about it. I don’t like to talk about the magick aspect of my faith with my boyfriend because I know that is something he thinks is less likely to be possible. Has for divination I have done readings that involve the both of us but not ones that are just about him, for the same reasons as spells.

Do you have any advice for wiccan’s in the “broomcloset” coming out about their faith to their partner?

At the end of the day if they can’t accept you for who you are, why would you want to be with them? Try and initially explain your faith as simply as possible and overtime you can introduce more and more ideas about your faith to them. Also, it may be good to ask them if they have any questions for you about it so you can better help them understand.

Any other thoughts or feelings about being Wiccan while dating an agnostic?

Just remember that in the Wiccan faith we are not suppose to try and convert others. Everyone has their own path. So while you can educate your partner on the topic to try and get them to understand your faith, don’t try and pressure them to partake in your celebrations or force them to do anything they aren’t comfortable doing. If you want them to treat you with respect then you need to also treat them with respect.

All about Reiki

So since I got my holy fire reiki 1 and 2 placements over the weekend, and hope to offer a reiki service on the site soon, I thought it would be good to talk about what reiki is.

How does reiki work?

Reiki is an energy that exists beyond this world. It goes beyond time and distance. When one is attuned to the reiki energy you can channel the reiki energy through your hands (palm chakras) and give that energy to yourself or others.

What is the purpose of reiki?

The purpose of reiki is to heal yourself spiritually, physically, and mentally/emotionally. The reiki energy is used to balance and align your chakras which in itself helps your soul, mind, and body. The energy can also focus on other body parts and organs to help heal those as well.

What does it feel like to receive reiki?

Everyone experiences reiki differently. Some people feel nothing but relaxed. Some can feel the energy unblocking their chakras. When I receive reiki I feel a tingly sensation where the practitioner is working on me. Some people see visions, or hear voices. I know some people who start floating off the table. You can be visited by various parts of the universal energy source. I find people often see the universal energy source in the shape of angels but as someone who doesn’t believe in angels I think they they would present themselves differently to me.

How does long distance reiki work?

The way it was explained to me was that picture our souls being connected to a cord that extends past our world to a place where distance and time does not exist. When you administer reiki long distance the energy travels to the start of the cord where there is no time or distance. It travels through the cord and then heals the soul it was meant to heal in our world. So not only can reiki be done long distance, but it can be done to someone in the past or future.

Do I need to take classes to do Reiki?

Some believe you can learn through books on your own but most believe you have to be taught. There are ignitions and placements you have to complete. There are also secret symbols to learn from a teacher. So while some believe you don’t have to learn from a teacher it is agreed that you must learn some way or another. You can’t just do it randomly.

What else should I know about reiki?

Reiki can not cause harm no matter what. You can do Reiki on someone as long as you have their souls permission. So say you want to do Reiki on your child who can’t speak yet, if you ask their soul and their soul gives you permission then you can do Reiki on them.

Reiki has no religion. It is thought of as a pagan concept these days I think, but what do you think Jesus (the real Jesus, the healer, not the one Christian’s talk of, God’s son) was doing? Some form of reiki, even if reiki wasn’t its name then. He was healing with his hands.

Your intention with reiki is what is most important. Your symbols don’t have to be perfect and your hand placements don’t have to be either. As long as your intentions are clear reiki energy will do what needs to be done to help heal the person you are giving reiki to.

And as always, when you are done doing reiki (like when you are done with a sacred circle or a Ouija board for example) you must close the persons energies and let go of the reiki energy. When you are done doing reiki you align the chakras, you remove any psychic waste in the air, and you thank the reiki energy for helping and release it. You do this to make sure the person who received reiki will stay safe because you never know what negative energies are lurking around waiting to feed on someone’s new energy.

After a Reiki session you should drink lots of water and expect to have a deep sleep and possibly some very vivid dreams.

Thank you for reading today! Do you think I should offer long distance reiki on this site? Chakras: The Navel, Heart, and Throat Chakras

Last week we talked about what chakras are and about the specifics of the root and sacral chakra. You can check that post here Chakras: The Root and Sacral Chakras. This week we are going to be talking about the specifics of the Navel, Heart, and throat chakras.

The Navel Chakra (AKA the Solar Plexus Chakra)

Solar-Plexus-chakra

Colour: Yellow

Location: At your navel which is around your belly button.

Element: Fire

The Navel chakra is about asserting yourself in a group.

When opened: You will have a sufficient self esteem

When under-active: You are likely indecisive and passive. You are probably shy and timid which results in you not getting what you want.

When over-active: You are likely bossy, aggressive, and domineering.

Healing and Balancing the navel chakra:

  1. Reiki
  2. Crystal Healing (citrine, topaz, tiger eye, and yellow jasper)
  3. Essential oils (juniper, cedarwood, black pepper, hyssop, marjoram, cardamom, lemon, and vetiver)
  4. Chakra Mudra (This mudra is activated when you place you hand on your thighs, touch the tips of the thumb, index, and ring fingers together, straighten your pinky and middle finger)
  5. Chakra sound therapy (the sound “RAM” is the Mantra that connects with the navel chakra. The frequency of RAM perfectly matches the vibrations of the Navel Chakra)
  6. Meditation (Imagine a yellow ball of energy shining at your navel that gets brighter as it travels down your pelvis, down to the base of your spine, and down your legs to your feet. You can also practice the Mudra and Mantra while you meditate)
  7. Natural healing methods (sitting, dancing, singing, and laughing with friends around a bonfire)

The Heart Chakra

Heart-chakra-1

Colour: Green

Location: Your heart/chest

Element: Air

The heart chakra is all about love, compassion, and kindness.

When open: You are compassionate and friendly. You work at having harmonious relationships

When under-active: You can be cold and distant. You may have a hard time opening up to others.

When over-active: You tend to smother people with your love to the point of it being overwhelming. Your love also likely has selfish intentions.

Healing and Balancing the heart chakra:

  1. Reiki
  2. Crystal Healing (emerald, green jade, rose quartz, green tourmaline)
  3. Essential oils (lavender, rose, chamomile, jasmine, frankincense)
  4. Chakra Mudra (with palms at your heart, touch outer edges of both pinkies and thumbs together, press heels of palms together, extend tips of all 10 fingers.)
  5. Chakra sound therapy (the mantra for the heart chakra is “YAM”. The frequency of the word and the vibrations of the heart chakra match perfectly.
  6. Meditation (imagine a green ball of energy at your hearts center that shines brighter as it travels down to your navel, your pelvis, the base of your spine, and down your legs to your feet.
  7. Natural healing methods (drive with the windows down, fly a kite)

The Throat Chakra

Throat-chakra

Colour: Blue

Location: Your throat

Element: Sound/Music

The throat chakra is about self expression and talking.

When open: you can clearly articulate what you have to say and have no issues expressing yourself.

When under-active: you may be quiet and shy. You are likely an introvert and keep to yourself. Something that can cause a block in this chakra is lying.

When over-active: You tend to be too talkative and not a very good listener.

Healing and Balancing the throat chakra:

  1. Reiki
  2. Healing crystals (turquoise, aquamarine, blue opal, blue agate, lapis, sapphire, blue topaz)
  3. Essential oils (tea tree, rosemary, sage, breathe)
  4. Chakra Mudra (interlace last three fingers together inside your hands, touch the tip of your index finger and thumb of the same hands making a ring on each hand, interlock the rings, hold in front of your throat)5ThroatMudura-edited
  5. Chakra sound therapy (the throat chakra mantra is “HAM”. The frequency of this mantra and the vibrations of the throat chakra match perfectly.)
  6. Meditation (envision a ball of blue light at your throat chakra and imagine it getting brighter as it travels down to your heart, your navel, your pelvis, the base of your spine, and down your legs to your feet. You can also practice the throat mudra and mantra while meditating)
  7. Natural healing methods (sing a song, call a friend, and write a letter to someone)
