Lavender has numerous associations; some of which are listed below.

Planet: Mercury

Element: Air

Astrological sign: Virgo

Macgick: Sleep, long life, peace, wishes, protection, love, purification, visions, attracting men, clarity of thought.

There are various uses for lavender in a magickal sense. For example, lavender can be used as an herb to infuse water that is being used to purify objects and spaces. Dried lavender sticks can be burned for smudging and as incense. It is used in spells for sharpening the mind, to encourage and strengthen pure love, and to encourage fertility. You can also use lavender in diffusers or in a bath to help with stress or depression. It can be used as well in spells or by stuffing it in a pillow to aid in sleep and sooth headaches. Lavender is an herb often used by people who do necromancy. It is a good herb to use to get in touch with spirits, to send them messages, and it is said carrying lavender, on your person, can improve your ability to see them.

Hope you guys enjoyed this addition to our book of shadows. What do you use lavender for? Let me know in the comments along with any other thoughts or comments you have. The Roman Pantheon

So this week I thought it would be good to back to talking about Pantheons. So we are going to talk about the Roman Pantheon. It is similar to the greek pantheon and many ways which should hopefully help me in creating this post. I find these pantheon posts (other than greek) are the hardest to write about as I start out not knowing a lot about them.

The Gods

Jupiter: King of the gods. Brother to Neptune and Pluto. Son of Saturn. He is the God of the sky and thunder. He is the patron of Rome.

Neptune: Brother of Jupiter and Pluto. He is the God of the sea, earthquakes, hurricanes and horses. He is often seen with his trident.

Mars: He is the son of Juno. He is the god of war, guardian of agriculture, and embodiment of virility and aggression. He is the father of Romulus, the founder of Rome.

Apollo: He is the son of Jupiter and Latona. His twin is Diana. He is the god of music, healing, light, and truth.

Vulcan: God of fire, volcanoes, metal work, and forging. He makes weapons for the Gods.

Mercury: Son of Maia and Jupiter. He is the god of profit, trade, eloquence, communication, travel, trickery and thieves; guide of dead souls to the underworld

Pluto: Brother of Jupiter and Neptune. He is the god of the underworld. His symbols are the cap of invisibility, pomegranates, key, and sceptre.

The Goddesses

Juno: She is the queen of the Gods and the wife of Jupiter. She is the protector of Rome’s women. She is Rome’s matron.

Minerva: She was born from the head of Jupiter after he impregnated Metis and ripped their daughter (Minerva) out of her womb and ate her. She is the goddess of wisdom, arts, trade, and strategy.

Venus: She is the mother of the Roman people. She is the Goddess of love, fertility, sex, desire, and prosperity. She is the matron of wine.

Diana: She is the daughter of Jupiter and Latona. She is the twin sister of Apollo. She is the goddess of the hunt, the moon, and birth.

Vesta: The sacred fire of the Vestal Virgins (all female and Rome’s only full-time priesthood). Goddess of the hearth, home, and family.

Ceres: She is the eternal mother.  She is the goddess of agriculture, grain, women, motherhood, and marriage. She is the lawgiver.
