When pulled upright this card is about balance. It seems like right now money may be a bit tight but you’ve found a way to balance it out. However you are teetering the edge and one wrong financial decision could ruin that balance. This balance could also be about trying to keep two aspects of your life in balance. It could be anything, your job, school, money, health, love, etc. Regardless this card is saying there are two aspects that you are extremely concerned about. You need to step back from the situation and gain a better perspective. Multitasking seems likes the most efficient course of action but in reality it will just make the situation worse. Take the time to really focus on what it is you’re concerned about. When it comes to the subject of love this card is suggesting that you don’t have the time or energy needed to invest in your partner to make them happy. Your relationship with your partner should be at the top of your priority list but given the stress you’ve been in by keeping everything in balance they have been put to the side a bit. When it comes to your finances this card is saying you need to make sure you are completely aware of the state it is in. Take this time to really watch what you’re spending and secure a steady stream of income so you can make a good foundation for your future. And when it comes to your health this card is reminding you to do some self care. When you have a lot of responsibilities it is easy to stop considering your own needs and wants  but you need to try and find a balance.

When pulled in reverse this card is saying you have too many things you’re trying to do in your life right now. Give yourself a little responsibility free break to de-stress. When it comes to work getting this card in reverse can be a good sign. Try not to commit yourself to a lot of things as it will likely overwhelm you. When it comes to finances this card can suggest that you might be overspending. You really need to think about your income and where it is all being spent as overspending can cause issues in the future.

The Wiccan’s Back to School Shopping List and Other Helpful Tips

It’s that time of the year again where everyone is back to school. Whether you’re in junior high, highschool, or post secondary this list will help you do your best this year. The things in this list are things that will be helpful on their own but some could also be used together to make spells/rituals for school too. Without further ado lets get into it.

Crystal and Herb Shopping list

  • clear quartz
    • Gives you mental clarity, focus, and helps retain information.
    • Bring the same clear quartz that you use to study with to your tests for a little extra help!
  • Tigers eye
    • Great for studying and research.
    • It keeps you focused and helps filter out mental distractions.
    • It can help you make sense of the information you’re processing.
  • Turquoise
    • It keeps your mind and thoughts clear.
    • Also great as it helps with stress and worry.
    • It is great to have with you while doing a test.
  • Fluorite
    • A great support for all types of research.
    • Any colour of fluorite can be used; pick what you are most drawn to.
  • Earl Grey Tea
    • Helps stimulate the mind, and helps give you confidence.
    • The caffeine can also help you stay awake on hard mornings or late study nights.
  • Grapefruit Peal/essential oil
    • Helps activate your mind as well.
    • When in essential oil form it is also known to promote joy and happiness.
    • If you have a few classes that you aren’t enjoying this might be great to have handy for those periods.
  • St. John’s wort
    • This herb is used as an antidepressant. (do not ingest if already on antidepressants)
    • It can bring light to troublesome problems.
    • Can be great to use when you have an educator that you don’t mesh well with but you need to confront/work with.
  • Lavender
    • This is great for calming and relaxing you when school becomes too much.
    • It can also help you get to sleep for those living in dorms or on those nights when your mind won’t shut up about all the school work you need to do.
  • Lemon Balm
    • This is great for healing your mind and bringing success.
    • This can be great to use after a hard day at school or before tackling a difficult assignment.

Tips

If you believe that consecrating your magickal tools makes them more powerful then why not do the same with your school tools. Consecrate your pens, pencils, ruler, calculator, scribblers, etc to make them more powerful!

If you live in dorms and have a roommate then having a permanent altar may not to realistic for you. So having a temporary altar may be more up your speed. You can keep all your altar tools in a shoe box and no one would be the wiser.

If you worship deities then you can also pray to get the support you need with school. I would find the deity in your pantheon that deals with the more logical aspects of life and pray to them. Some examples of deities you may want to pray to are Athena, Lugh, Seshat, Saraswati, Odin, etc.

I also recommend that you meditate. Meditating when you’re overwhelmed, having a hard time focusing, or right before a big test can be super helpful. It clears your mind of all the useless crap and lets you tune in to what is really important.

I’d love to do more school related posts/videos if anyone has anything they’d like to request (spells, how to be a closeted wiccan in secondary and post secondary school, etc). Tarot Series~Minor Arcana: Nine of Swords

When pulled upright is about fear and anxiety, especially about the things that you worry about and that you think of while you’re trying to sleep. This card could be about trauma as well. You might feel self-conscious about this trauma and may be anxious about telling anyone about it as well as the emotional issues you have from the trauma. Swords cards are very much about the mind, logic, and intellect and the nine of swords really focus in on the negative aspects of that. You can’t seem to turn your brain off and are full of questions, and constantly thinking about all the possibilities that could happen. This card is also about how something that troubled you in the past, that you thought you managed to avoid and get past, is becoming an issue again. You should consider talking to someone about it because then at least you don’t have to carry this burden on your own. If this is something that has less to do with trauma and more to do with just general anxiety then you need to think about if this is something that you can control. Is there something that you can do or change that will help alleviate this anxiety? Focus on the things you can control.

When pulled in reverse this card is also about being affected by nightmares, anxiety, and stress. Something traumatic that happened before is resurfacing and overwhelming you. However despite all of this there is more hope than there is with the upright version. In the upright version you are kind of wallowing and not trying to actively feel better, but when the card is in reverse you do have that motivation. However you have to actually take action to see any change. Nothing will get better if you do not make an effort to leave it behind. It is important to remember that even though there is hope of getting through this there is the chance of things getting worse if you don’t make the effort to get through this rut. It is all on you to avoid that. If you push yourself you could find yourself out of this rut but if you don’t push yourself you can sink farther into it.

Tarot Series~Minor Arcana: Four of Swords

When pulled upright it is saying that it is time for your to retreat. The three of swords was a very intense card talking about a lot of grief and suffering. This four of swords is telling you to step back from these issues and rest. You may be withdrawing consciously or maybe you just have no choice from sheer exhaustion. You are still surrounded by reminders of your grief but in order to be able to return your everyday life you need to take some time to recoup and rest. There is always that slight chance that there is more loss to experience and you should rest now while you have the chance. It would be really beneficial if you went somewhere private, be it the cottage, a little trip somewhere warm, or maybe the beach and regain your strength and clarity. It is time to go over your priorities and make sure you’re approaching everything the way you want to be/should be. This card is about getting ready new challenges. You are experiencing crisis after crisis and it is wiping you out. You will only be able to face the next challenge after you’ve recouped some. 

When pulled in reverse this card is about feeling restless. Your heart is ready to relax but your brain is not. You are feeling that there is a lot depending on you. Continuing on this path that you’re on is not a good idea and could affect your health. You can keep fighting but you can only endure so much. You have to know your own strength and know when to back out. Letting yourself rest and refresh can be a very important measure of self-love. You can try to push ahead anyway but it will only make things difficult for you long term.

Grieving as a Wiccan

Lately I’ve been grieving a lot. This last month or two has been pretty hard. So today I want to talk to you about that. I’ve wanted to talk about it for a while but I wasn’t sure how to format it. So I’m just deciding to write. It may be super long or super short but I think writing this will get it off my chest. My writing style may be a bit different than it usually is, it may not be… I dunno. Regardless I hope you don’t mind.

The Thursday before the Easter weekend I was contacted by my family, while at work, that my great grandmother wasn’t doing very well. She’s hasn’t been super healthy for a couple years now but nothing crazy. However this time was different. My mom usually tells me that it isn’t anything to worry about yet, but this time she said I might want to come home and see her. So there I was in front of my preschoolers that I teach and I just cried. I told them what was wrong and let me tell you, 4 year olds are so compassionate and loving. They loved me and snuggled me all day long. It was so beautiful. I went to see her that weekend. I live about 3 hours away from my family. My partner and little sister went in with me to see her. She had a hard time talking cause her breathing was very laboured but we had a great visit. That’s the last time I will see my great grandmother. She’s still alive though. When I went to see her she was at her home. Now she is in a hospital and has been for a couple weeks now. My mom says she isn’t the same nan we know and love and that she wouldn’t want me to see her this way. She’s in a lot of pain and is just waiting to die. Every morning I wake up and check my phone to see if I have a message telling me she’s passed. I hope she does soon so she can be at peace. She really hates hospitals. So this is when my grieving started.

Back in March one of the little girls at my preschool (we’ll call her Mabel for privacy sake) went to Florida with her family for a trip. The second day in she got very sick and started having seizures. She had to be put in the hospital. She had what they call F.I.R.E.S. I am not super knowledgeable on what it is. All I know is it’s rare, it started as a common cold, and she had seizures, also 30% of those who get it die from it. However I didn’t know that at the time. It never occurred to me that she would die. Maybe that is naive but that’s how I felt. For two months I had very few updates other than a gofundme page and occasionally something would get written on her classroom attendance sheet about it. Then I came in to work last Friday (the 10th) and was told she didn’t make it. Mabel was 4 years old. I know a dead 4 year old. I was nervous for my kids to find out. I didn’t want them to be sad or scared they were going to die. But when you’re 4 years old 2 months is a long time and a lot of them didn’t remember Mabel very well. I was lucky in that sense so instead of being sad they just had a lot of questions which was a lot easier to deal with. This last Thursday (the 16th) I went to Mabel’s funeral. I wore a pink dress (everyone was in bright pinks and purples as requested by Mabel’s family). It was one of the saddest things I have ever experienced.

I’m telling you all of this for a couple reasons. One reason is that talking about this I hope will be a little therapeutic for me. I also wanted everyone to understand why my posting has been so inconsistent these last few weeks (also why it may continue to be inconsistent when my nan passes). But also I wanted to share how I am coping as a Wiccan (or if I’m not already doing these things they are things I want to start doing to cope).

What is helping me cope with Nan is first and foremost I know that her passing is going to bring her peace. But also I know that her soul will reincarnate and I will meet it again whether in this life or the next. I’m really trying to focus on the fact that she lived such a great and beautiful life and not on the fact that she’ll be gone.

What is helping me the most when it comes to coping about Mabel is also related to reincarnation but it is a bit different. If you’ve read my post about the signs you are an earth angel you will know that many of these people die as a child. When I think about Mabel, and the beautiful energy her soul had, I confidently feel she had the soul of an angel. Without a doubt. So despite the fact that I don’t totally understand how she died, I can understand why she died and that to me brings great peace.

However other than thinking about these things I have not done much to cope but have just not been thinking about it and it’s probably not the most healthy method of healing. Things that I want to start incorporating into my coping process that you can try too is reiki (be it self reiki or receiving reiki from someone else). I also want to pray more. As I’ve mentioned in my post about my relationship with praying , I tend to stray away from it because it reminds me of Christianity. I think grieving may be a great way for me to change that relationship with prayer because at the end of the day you can pray to whoever or whatever you want, not just the Christian god. So I’d like to reach out to Gaia and Pan more for strength and you can do the same with whoever you matron or patron is. I think meditating and grounding myself will also help me stabilize my emotions. And the last thing I want to suggest for myself and for you is divination. Do spreads to help sort through your emotions. Do spreads for how to cope. Do spreads to talk to those that have passed on if you think that will give you closure. Do a spread to see how your future will be after you’ve moved forward from this hard time.

I hope that this post gives you some ideas on how to cope with what you’re struggling with and also lets you know that even if it feels like you’re all alone and no one understands that there are people who get it (yikes that was cheesy but bear with me). 30 New Year Resolutions

Hi everyone! Today I thought I would make a bit of a different post. Since it is the first month of the new year I thought I would give a list of resolutions related to Wicca/Paganism/witchcraft etc in case you’ve been struggling to think of one.

  1. Meditate everyday
  2. Start a year and a day long study
  3. Do a tarot reading (or any other divination) every day
  4. Keep a daily journal to follow the progress of your path
  5. Go out and take a walk every day (or weekend if your week is too busy)
  6. Do some mindful yoga every morning and/or night
  7. Connect with deity (or any high power) daily
  8. Start a daily ritual
  9. Sage yourself and/or home everyday/every week/every month
  10. Practice self reiki every morning/night Seven Chakra Vortex Website Banner
  11. Pick a mantra to recite every day (it can change everyday, week, month, year, etc)
  12. Do a daily devotions (There are many books that give you a daily activity/reading to do. I have one for the chakras)
  13. Put a new entry in your BoS every day (could be a new herb, crystal, spell, ritual, poem, etc)
  14. Make some self care products with magick and use them everyday
  15. Every morning have some tea/milk/water/coffee/hot chocolate infused with a little magick to start the day right
  16. Start a blog about Wicca/Paganism/witchcraft
  17. Write a book about Wicca/Paganism/witchcraft
  18. Create a piece of art everyday that has to do with your path
  19. Go out and pick up up a few pieces of litter everyday or do a big litter clean up in your community once a week/month
  20. Volunteer for things that are important to your craft/path _dsc0901
  21. Read a little from a book about Wicca/Paganism/witchcraft everyday
  22. Donate monthly to a charity that supports something important to your craft/path
  23. Everyday get to know your spirit guides a little more
  24. Everyday write something down that you’re grateful for
  25. Save up a little money from every pay check so you can go on a unplugged trip/start stocking your magickal supplies/get altar tools
  26. Start a coven
  27. Write a poem about Wicca/Paganism/witchcraft everyday
  28. Practice positive thinking (if it harm none do as ye will, that includes not harming yourself emotionally)

Tarot Series~Minor Arcana: Ten of Wands

10 of wands

When pulled upright this card is about having no more struggle left. The last few cards have all been about getting through conflict but at this point you’ve made it through. All your work has payed off and you’ve actually been rewarded for it. You are currently experiencing abundance and prosperity. The other side to all of this is now you have a lot of responsibility. In your group of friends and family you are the only real problem solver. This in itself can bring up a whole new set of challenges. And now that you have reached your success you have the responsibility to maintain it. What you need to watch out for is to not become overwhelmed and lose control. You can do this by learning to prioritize and learning how to figure out what issues are truly relevant and which aren’t. When you have this card come up it kind of is talking about how you are achieving all these great things one after the other but that all of these achievements are quite overwhelming and cause you to have a lot of responsibility. Then despite your success you keep looking at others and feel like you aren’t accomplishing as much as they are. You need to understand that you cannot do everything. You need to let some things go and just be happy with what you’ve got going on.

When pulled in reverse this card is about you feeling burdened by circumstances that you really don’t even need to deal with. Think about what in your life is making you happy and what isn’t. Take everything that isn’t and toss it. If it isn’t adding any value to your life then it isn’t worth your time.

Here is a quick and easy spread for figuring out what you need to let go of so you can be a happier you. First I would take the ten of wands out of the deck and meditate on it while focusing on the areas in your life that aren’t bringing you joy. Tarot Series~Minor Arcana: Seven of Wands

When pulled upright this card is about experiencing a struggle. Unlike the five of wands (which is about getting through a struggle to reach your goal) this card is about getting through a struggle to maintain your goal. This is about all the difficulties we have to go through to keep our success going. Be prepared to have to fight to keep your position and prove yourself. The general meaning of this card is that you need to stand your ground no matter the costs. You need to fight for what your believe and what you want.

When pulled in reverse this card is about you possibly feeling overwhelmed by all the responsibilities you have as well as any challenges you may be facing. This card talks about the fact that you may not be seeing the whole picture and that you may be comparing yourself to others. This card could also be talking about how you are feeling judged lately. Everyone seems to be questioning your decisions and it is making you feel overwhelmed. This card when upside down is saying that you are doing everything it tells you not to do when upright. It is saying that instead of fighting for what you want and what you believe in, you are just throwing the towel in. Remember what work you’ve put in to get where you are and really think about whether it is something you are willing to give up. Another interpretation of this card is that you may be too aggressive when you are fighting for what you want and it may be damaging your relationships. 

Here is a tarot spread to help you get through your struggles and maintain your goals. First take the seven of wands out of your deck and mediate on it. While you meditate focus on what success you are trying to maintain. Then shuffle your cards and pull them using your preferred method.

11 Signs you may be a Crystal Child

Today we are going to continue to talk about the different types of starseeds. Last week we talked about Indigo children and today we are going to talk about Crystal children. If you want to know more about starseeds in general click here. If you want to know about Indigo children click here.

What is a Crystal child? They are a group of people who started coming to this world around the 90’s. The Indigo children tore apart the institution and now the crystal children are help building back up. They show us that humanity is evolving. They are role models that are not ruled by their ego but rather by their higher self. I believe I may be a crystal so with each sign I give below I will leave an example of how I see it in myself.

#1 They are creative

This can be through art, writing, music, dance, etc. Personally I have been dancing since I could walk and singing for the same amount of time. As a child I was very gifted with the fiddle (although I’ve lost that talent as I stopped playing).

#2 They are natural healers

I have always had a knack for healing others emotions and have always been the one to help family when sick. I also am now trained in reiki healing as well.

#3 They are fascinated by crystals

I absolutely love them. Rose Quartz is my favourite and it what I am most connected to. I also have lots of black tourmaline, clear quartz, amethyst, and citrine. I hope to have a lot more someday.

#4 They love nature, animals, plants, trees, etc

My favourite place to be is in the forest. I love laying underneath a tree and just quietly observe everything around me. I love gardening. I even talk to my plants to help them grow. I am obsessed with animals and feel like I can never have enough animal companions in my home.

#5 They are empathetic

I personally believe I am an empath. I have always been very in tune to others emotions and find I take them on myself. Being in public can be very overwhelming due to feeling all these emotions.

#6 They have an intense stare and large penetrating eyes

My eyes are known to be piercing. They are a very unique icy blue that I’ve only seen a few people who are in my family also have. I always get comments about how piercing they are and as a kid I was often told they were “freaky” by the other kids.

#7 Uncomfortable in large crowds or loud places

Being in large crowds makes me very anxious. This is also due to being an empath. It is very overwhelming and so much to take in. It is often too much for me and results in me needing to spend a lot of time alone afterwards.

#8 They need very nurturing and loving environments to thrive.

My parents are divorced and growing up they had 2 very different styles of parenting. My mother was well intentioned but overly strict. She made it feel like I lived in a prison. My father on the other hand was a lot more on the nurturing side and more about gaining privileges rather than losing them. I thrived a lot more at my father’s and overall was a lot happier.

#9 Their parents are often Indigos

This one I am still trying to figure out if it is true or not. See my brother and I are full blood related and my sister is half blood related through our mom. I feel like all of us are starseeds. That would make my mom an indigo. I however am not sure if she is though. That is something I am still discovering. I can however see my dad being an Indigo. That wouldn’t explain my sister though. Unless instead of being born due to my mother being an indigo she was born into a family that just already had starseeds.

#10  Wise beyond their years

Growing up (especially in my pre-teens/early teens) adults always thought I was older than I really way. I was always told I seemed wiser and more mature than those my age. Maybe it had to do with being a crystal all along.

#11 Non-verbal

This is one that does not apply to me. That is normal since everyone is different, and not all symptoms or signs are the same for everyone when it comes to anything in life. However it is common that crystal children don’t start speaking until their toddler years. Sometimes they are even diagnosed with ASD (autism spectrum disorder). The reason for their lack of speech is because they can communicate telepathically and therefore don’t feel the need to speak to get their points across.

11 Signs That You’re an Empath (giveaway)

Now, for today’s post! So lately I have been doing a lot of research on what an empath is because I feel as though I probably am one. Empaths are people with the psychic ability to feel others emotions, energy, and pain. Today I am going to give you some signs that I’ve discovered from my research and signs I see in myself that I feel don’t get talked about.

#1 You feel overwhelmed in crowded areas and often feel unexplainable emotions.

So I experience this in anxiety. If I am in any large crowd I get very very anxious and I get very tired very quick. It makes no sense why I would feel this anxiety because there is nothing inherently scary or worrisome about crowds.

#2 You experience other’s pain.

This is one I don’t experience too much. The only thing I really experience in this area is if someone is really sick I experience a very heavy feeling in my chest. It makes it kinda hard to breath.

#3 You feel horrible and maybe even sick watching something horrible (like violence) in real life and even on tv.

So for me I can separate acting with real violence. But I will say watching stuff like wrestling on tv and stuff does make me really uncomfortable. I’ve also never understood people getting joy from watching a fight.

#4 You know when someone is lying.

So this means you are pretty good at knowing when someone is lying to you. It doesn’t mean that you know what the truth actually is however. I feel like I am pretty good at knowing a lie. I can only think of one person who is just so manipulative that I can’t figure her out.

#5 You feel the need to care for anyone in pain regardless of who they are or what they’ve done to you.

I am instinctually a very nurturing person. If anyone is hurting (emotionally or physically), even if they have done me wrong, I have to help them. Something I really struggle with is animals and children in pain. I have spent good amounts of time crying because I can’t bring home all the animals in a shelter, I have a sponsor child that I can’t afford right now and it is going to kill me inside when I cancel that sponsorship.

#6 People open up to you even if you don’t really want them to.

One thing I struggle with is people who I am not overly fond of feeling the need to open up to me and tell me their life struggles. The other day I had someone message me (who I haven’t seen since highschool and have never been a fan of) asking me about student loans and relationship advice. But, because I feel the need to help everyone, I talked to her anyway.

#7 When you experience other’s emotions you feel them even stronger than they do

This is one sign that I haven’t read about specifically but it is definitely something I experience. I am known for getting way more worked up about someone else’s problems then they themselves do. One constant example I have of this, is when my best friend tells me about the struggles she has at work with this one girl. My best friend will be a bit annoyed and I feel that emotion and it comes out of me as anger. This is just one example of this phenomenon

#8 You attract energy vampires

So at some point in your life, if you are an empath you will attract at least one energy vampire. An energy vampire is someone who wants to feed off your high vibrations. They’ll be that person that is super negative, always wants to talk about themselves and their problems. They don’t care about your problems and if you try to talk about what’s on your mind they’ll say you don’t care about them. They drain you of all the energy you have. I can think of a few people from my life so far that were definitely energy vampires.

#9 You are known for being a good listener

This kind of goes hand in hand with #8 and #6. You’re a fantastic listener and that’s why you will find people attracted to you and telling you everything. They instinctively know you’re going to be able to help them.

#10 You’re sensitive to antiques

This is one I really struggle with. I love antiques. I think they are so beautiful but, whenever I go into an antique shop, I leave feeling sad and exhausted. I find antiques tend to have a lot of old energy still attached to them. I also find that negative energy can be very overpowering compared to positive energy. This is probably why I leave sad. I try not to touch too many things when in an antique shop because I find that amplifies the emotions I feel. I now like to bring some crystals with me, in my pockets, to help keep the negativity away and keep my mood up.

#11 You’re an introvert

So if you don’t know, an introvert is someone who thrives being on their own and being with others can be very draining. I think many empaths are introverts because when you can feel others emotions being around others is very taxing. You also need to have time to yourself so you can recharge. Usually being an introvert isn’t too big of a deal but it can be very hard when you are in a situation where you can’t have the space to recharge.
