Tarot Series~Minor Arcana: Two of Pentacles

download (5)

When pulled upright this card is about balance. It seems like right now money may be a bit tight but you’ve found a way to balance it out. However you are teetering the edge and one wrong financial decision could ruin that balance. This balance could also be about trying to keep two aspects of your life in balance. It could be anything, your job, school, money, health, love, etc. Regardless this card is saying there are two aspects that you are extremely concerned about. You need to step back from the situation and gain a better perspective. Multitasking seems likes the most efficient course of action but in reality it will just make the situation worse. Take the time to really focus on what it is you’re concerned about. When it comes to the subject of love this card is suggesting that you don’t have the time or energy needed to invest in your partner to make them happy. Your relationship with your partner should be at the top of your priority list but given the stress you’ve been in by keeping everything in balance they have been put to the side a bit. When it comes to your finances this card is saying you need to make sure you are completely aware of the state it is in. Take this time to really watch what you’re spending and secure a steady stream of income so you can make a good foundation for your future. And when it comes to your health this card is reminding you to do some self care. When you have a lot of responsibilities it is easy to stop considering your own needs and wants  but you need to try and find a balance.

When pulled in reverse this card is saying you have too many things you’re trying to do in your life right now. Give yourself a little responsibility free break to de-stress. When it comes to work getting this card in reverse can be a good sign. Try not to commit yourself to a lot of things as it will likely overwhelm you. When it comes to finances this card can suggest that you might be overspending. You really need to think about your income and where it is all being spent as overspending can cause issues in the future.

Here is a tarot spread to help you achieve balance in your life. First I would take the card out and meditate on it thinking about what aspect(s) of your life could use some more balance. Then shuffle and pull the cards using your preferred method.

Tarot Series~Minor Acrana: Ace of Pentacles

ce0a44f08ac300a42e4dbd5800c72fac

When pulled upright this card is about new beginnings, just like all ace cards. Due to this card being a pentacles card it could be a new career, a new venture, a start to a health journey. Regardless of the new beginning, pulling this card upright means the outcome of it will bring your abundance and opportunity. This card also represents that a “seed” (an idea, a goal, a thought, etc) has been planted when it comes to the material world. It likely has to do with your feeling of security and stability. You need to nurture it and help it grow. You need to give it your time, your energy, sometimes you need to invest in it financially. Helping this seed manifest will bring you prosperity. Along with all this you need to make sure you are prepared psychologically for the opportunities coming your way. To ensure that you can reap all the benefits from this card you need to have calmness in your life, you need stability.

When pulled in reverse this card says the possible opportunity that is being presented to you can be a bad investment, it could take up more resources than you currently think it will, or it could be saying you are missing your chance for this opportunity. This card can also be a sign that you are going to be going through some hard financial times. Having said that this card is suggesting not to make an big financial decisions and to carefully think about all your options before deciding upon any sort of deal. Now could also be a good time to get advice from others as to avoid making rushed decisions. Now isn’t a good time to start a new job or business especially if you’re considering it for financial gain. It might be an illusion that could hurt you in the end.

Here is a tarot spread to help you start your new beginning in your career. First I would take the ace of pentacles out of the deck and meditate on it thinking about the opportunity you have, or the goal you want to reach. Then shuffle and pull the cards using your preferred method.

Shopping list for the Beginner Witch/Wiccan

Hi everyone! A couple weeks ago my boyfriend gave me the great idea to do this post and I thought it sounded so much fun. However before we start, you must remember that this is a generalized list. Obviously some people aren’t going to need all of these things for their path and some will need things I didn’t mention. This list is solely going to be based around what I would want in a beginners shopping list. Also keep in mind you don’t need any of these things to call yourself a witch or wiccan. When I first started my journey all I had to work with were the yankee style candles I already owned, the spices and herbs already in my kitchen, and I went to the dollarstore and bought a tin pot to act as a cauldron.

Wicca and Sex

So in many traditional religions sex is viewed as meant for a husband and wife and anything else is considered a sin/wrongful. In Wicca we view sex a little differently. Most religions never really think about their God as a being that has sex but in Wicca some of our holidays are to celebrate just that, deities having sex. Wicca is a fertility religion. What do I mean by that? Well think about it this way, Wicca is thought of most often as a nature based religion. This is true of course. Nature though doesn’t just happen. Nature happens through reproduction. The plants reproduce, the animals, the insects, everything reproduces. And as we know to reproduce we must be fertile and for most living organisms it takes sex to reproduce.

All through Wicca you will find symbols about fertility. The wheel of the year is symbolic of the earth’s fertility. The wheel of the year also is a cycle about the God’s conception, and the goddess’ pregnancy. During Beltane we have the Maypole is a giant phallic symbol. The athame and wand are symbols for the male. The chalice, cauldron, and pentacle are symbols for the female.

There is also sex magick. During magick one raises energy and then releases it. Sex is a great way to build of the energy and the climax is a great way to release it. Couples who practice magick together and partake in this. Solitary Wiccans can do sex magick through masturbation.

wiccan-sex-spell-237x300

So due to the fact that Wiccans see sex as a healthy, natural, and positive act we typically accept our sexuality as human nature. We have nothing against nudity (if anything we are for it considering many of us perform ritual and magick skyclad), and no where in the rede or any other such documents, does it say anything about sex before marriage. This is not to say all Wiccan’s are sexually active. Sex is an individual decision. Some have a lot of sex with numerous partners, some wait for a serious relationship, some wait for marriage, and some are celibate. It all depends on the person.

Also nowadays many wiccan’s are pretty liberal about sexual orientations and those that are homophobic are homophobic on their own accord and not because of religious scripture and belief.

And of course there is unhealthy sex that is not encouraged in Wicca such as:

  1. Imbalance of power (this does not include consensual BDSM). No wiccan coven should ever demand sex from you. As well as child/adult, teacher/student, boss/employee, etc
  2. When sex isn’t about a personal intimate connection with someone but rather about manipulation, used to fill a void left by someone else, when it becomes an obsession/compulsion, or a cry for help. If you’re using sex like a drug it is not healthy.
  3. Non-consensual sex is obviously unethical as it is about manipulation, violence, and control.
  4. Or when someone is being irresponsible with sex. They could be opening themselves up to disease or risking giving someone else a disease, or not properly protecting oneself from unwanted children. As that is not balanced or responsible.

All and all though Wicca is pretty open minded about sex so it is up to you to decide what is best for yourself.

Midsummer/Litha Ritual

Today I thought it would be fun to add more to our book of shadows since I’ve been slack with it. Since Midsummer/Litha is coming up on June 21st (I’ll be writing a whole post about it on Wednesday) I thought having a new ritual for the day would be a good idea. I found this ritual on wicca.com and thought it was pretty fun. I am also going to have possible adjustments for those of us Wiccans with less of a budget/inventory.

Tools:
In addition to your usual magical tools, you will need:

  • A Golden Yellow Alter Cloth (I would likely skip this step as I don’t have any altar cloths… you could use a scarf, blanket, or towel though)

  • Small Cloth Pouch of Summertime Herbs (I would just have the herbs and skip the pouch)

  • Cauldron (I use a tin bucket from the dollarstore)

  • 1cup Fresh Spring Water (any water will do, you could even collect fresh rain water and charge it under the sun)

  • Red Sun God Candle

  • Green Earth Goddess Candle

  • Summer Blend Incense (I use lavender)

Preparation:
Sweep area moving in deosil manor. Set up Quarter Candles and any accessories symbolizing the Elements of the Quarters. Decorate the alter with seasonal flowers, especially Sunflowers. Prepare your Pouch of Summertime Herbs, and as you make it, pour your troubles, pains, sorrows, illness, and regrets into it (You could instead pour your herbs in a bowl). Place the Cauldron in the center of your alter, the Red Sun candle to the right of it , the Green Goddess Candle to the left of it. Place the cup of Fresh Spring Water in front of the Goddess Candle. Take a shower or bath for purification. Sit quietly and meditate for a while, then ground and center. When ready, play some peaceful music for the ritual.

Cast the circle…….Pick up your Wand (you can use your athame as well or just your finger), and with arms upraised, face South and say:

“I celebrate the Mid-of-Summer, held in honor of the Blazing Sun God. All of Nature vibrates with the fertileness of the Goddess and of the God.   The Earth basks in the light and life of the Sun.
The ever turning Wheel of the Year has made the light ever stronger And the light has kept growing longer, until today…
The middle of the time of light, Litha, MidSummer’s Day, Summer Solstice.
From here, the light begins to fade, again, until once more the Wheel turns to the time of darkness, Yule, Winter Solstice.
Yet, for today, the Sun is high, the light is bright, the Earth is warm. As the Sun God blazes above, may the fires of my rite flame below.”

Face the alter, put down your wand, and light the Green Goddess Candle to the left of your cauldron, saying:

“Oh, Mother of Nature, She that brings the meadow to bloom, Green Forest Mother, from lakes and streams your children spring forth. Blessed Lady of the stars and the Moon, Fruitful Womb of which I honor, and ask of Thee, Thy Blessings.”

Light the Red Sun God Candle to the right of your cauldron, saying:

“Oh, Father of all things, He that plants the seed and nurtures Life.   God of Fertility and Fruitfulness, from hill and forest your children emerge.   Blessed Lord of the blazing Sun, potent Consort of which I honor, and of Thee, Thy Blessings.”

Take the Herb Pouch (or bowl) and hold above your head, saying:

“By thy power, oh sacred herbs, may the Lord of the Sun Burn away the hurtful, the troublesome, and the painful, Leaving me purified through His warmth and Light.”

Hold the pouch over your main Alter Candle to take flame. While it is burning, drop it in the cauldron (instead of this I would put a tealight in my cauldron and sprinkle the herbs over the flame), saying:

“Great Goddess and Great God, from Thee all powers flow forth.
The Two that are One, Great Spirit of All-That-Is,
By Thy powers, and the powers of Air, Fire, Water, and Earth,
By Thy powers, and the powers of the Sun, Moon, and Stars,
I banish these negatives from my life.”

Visualize the negatives burning away to nothingness. When all that is left is ashes, douse the ashes with the cup of Fresh Spring Water, feel as if the water were being poured over you and your negatives washed away. Air dry by dancing and running your hands up and down your arms, body, and legs. Don’t forget your head… lay it back and shake running your fingers through your hair. When done, face alter, wave hand over the cauldron and say:

“As the Phoenix rises from the ashes, so let this water be pure and new.
Mother Goddess, bless this water so that it may bless and renew me.
Father God, may your rays of the MidSummer Sun bless and nourish me.
Two that are One, may your blessings sustain me as I journey, anew.”

Pass your cupped hands over the cauldron, pausing briefly each time to ‘ pour ‘ in wishes for health, prosperity, and good fortune to be part of your life. Dip the forefinger of your right hand into the cauldron water, and trace a pentagram on your forehead, saying:

“Let my mind be open to the truth.”

Anoint your lips saying:

“Let my lips always speak the truth.”

Anoint your heart area, saying:

“Let my heart seek the ways of the Goddess, now and always.”

Anoint the centers of your palms, saying:

“Let my hands be gifted to work in magickal ways.”

Anoint the soles of your feet, saying:

“Let my feet ever walk upon the sacred paths!”

Now is the time for meditation, divination, and any spellworkings. MidSummer spellworkings include: prosperity, fertility, and plentiful harvests. Finish by having the Cakes and Ale Ceremony and releasing the circle. Clean up. The Ritual is done.

Remember there is no right or wrong way to do a ritual so if something in this ritual doesn’t feel right to you, don’t do it, or substitute other things in. Also, if you want some ideas on summer herbs try these mugwort, vervain, chamomile, rose, honeysuckle, lily, oak, lavender, ivy, yarrow, fern, elder, wild thyme, daisy, carnation, and St. John’s Wort.

If you have any thoughts or questions please leave them in the comments! If you’d like to stock up for this or any other ritual check out the Mystical Moon Online Store here: Mystical Moon Online Store. Merry Meet and Blessed Be.

Weekly Tarot Reading: Potential Love Spread

Hi everyone! Today I did another love based spread. My roommate/best friend is going on a date tomorrow and she asked me if I could do a reading to see how it will go. I thought it might be fun to make it my spread of the week for all my single viewers.

59cc9a0276df17e3cacea655bb22a4ac
Spread I did

I really enjoyed doing this spread. I found that the card placement meanings ended up being a little different than written. I found that the second card was more about how this new person would be like to date rather than how they specifically will feel about the relationship. As well as with the outcome I found that it didn’t have to do specifically with the date (which makes me think the date will go nowhere so there isn’t much of an outcome to discuss) and rather talks about an outcome for my friend in general. You’ll see what I mean.

32366331_1688890844532871_25791514835681280_n
Cards I pulled

How You Feel: Two of Pentacles

This card talks about ones inability to provide the energy and time required to make your partner happy. You have so much going on in other areas of your life right now that you find it hard to make them your priority. You have 2 main aspects in your life (love and finances/career is what I feel they are) that you’re trying to balance. One small error though and the balance will be lost. You need to figure out your priorities.

How they feel: Ten of Pentacles Reversed

Currently there won’t be an issue but one might come up later. This card talks about financial issues since it is a pentacles card. This card also talks about wasting your time. Relationships have been great for the short term fun but you lack substance for a relationship in the long haul.

Potential for a Relationship: Seven of Pentacles

This card talks about how you have a fear of failing. You feel you’ve put effort into relationships in the past but they never seem to be successful in the end. Despite numerous mistakes you are learning from them and becoming a better person from them. Your fear of failure may be keeping you from committing to this potential relationship.

Advice: Queen of Swords

This card is an archetype of an older, wiser, feminine intellect. It says to make judgments without emotion alone and to look at all the facts first before you make any decisions.

Outcome: Strength

Like I said I think there is no outcome to this date so I think this is an outcome for my friend in general and not for this specific relationship. In reverse this cards talks about mental illness which my friend has struggled with but I pulled the card upright which talks about having inner strength and fortitude during trying times. It talks about the ability to remain calm and strong even during immense struggle. It also says that maintaining your compassion will always be rewarded with having stability in your life either presently or in the near future. Also this card is a Major Arcana which I think is suggesting that this date is going to be insignificant in the grand scheme of things but the path you are on to self healing is amazing.

Lastly, I also noticed a lot of pentacles were pulled, and so I did a little research about it, and from what I read considering the topic and what I’ve learned so far it suggests a focus on the material aspects of the relationship. This relationship would have no spark because despite having a lot in common and being able to have fun together there is no emotional, intellectual, or spiritual bond in the relationship.

That’s it for this week! If you see anything I missed, have any general thoughts, or questions feel free to leave it in the comments. Thanks for reading and make sure to subscribe so you get notifications when I post. Merry Meet and Blessed Be!

Weekly Tarot Reading: April 22nd-28th 2018

86da00dc5efc0b760cf2716737ed8a1d
Spread of the week

So this week is kind of a big week to do a reading for, as tomorrow is my first day out of school and first day of doing my practicum, working in the field. So this week is going to be a big change for me. And the cards definitely showed that. So after shuffling and pulling cards the picture below is what I had to work with.

31250661_1667594136662542_4799658388873019392_n

My week as a whole: Page of wands

Wands talks about creativity, spiritual consideration, and will power. A page card has to do with preparing yourself to succeed and something. Also feeling hesitant or not feeling fully prepared for a task. A dragon in a card often symbolizes protection and confidence. Due to is being reversed the overall tone of this week is that I am not confident in my ability to succeed this week. I am not as prepared as I hoped and my creativity is lacking (or at least I feel it is).

Something unexpected that will arise: Five of Swords Reversed

Swords is about mental issues and communication. The number five is about change and challenges It says there will be a lot to handle and when a big decision comes to slow down and take 5 before making it. Black birds which you can see in the tarot card often represent knowledge, understanding, intuition, and thoughtfulness. The blood/red in the card seems to speak about anger and emotional outburst (which we see more about later). The card is in reversed so it seems to be saying that I am going to experience a lot of mental challenges and that it will seem like a lot is going on at once. Despite this I just need to keep going because I will be able to handle it. When it comes time to make a big decision this week I will have the combination of knowledge and intuition so I just need to pause and think about it first.

How I can stay grounded and balanced: Justice reversed

So firstly it is important to remember that because this card is a major arcana card it is going to be a key point about this week. When this card is reversed it means dishonesty, unaccountable, and unfairness. So having said that in order to keep grounded and balanced it will be key to stay honest, accountable, and fair.

Important emotion I will feel this week: The Tower

So funny enough when this placement means important it really does mean important as this is another arcana card. All though this card looks devastating, it doesn’t have to be. What it means is that there is going to be a groundbreaking change. Presumably I would say it is the transition from school life to work life. It also talks about the possible argument the five of swords alluded to. The tower card says it is important during this argument to watch what you say and make sure not to hurt anyone’s feelings. Also in this card there are lots of white birds. Often times white birds are considered to be messengers and come when the end of a storm is near. They also represent peace. So this says that despite everything going up in the air and maybe feeling lost there will be a sense of peace at the end of the storm.

Something that will inspire me: Four of Swords reversed

Swords as we know is about mental issues and communication. The number four is about foundation, stability, and security. It also talks about how clarity is important to work effectively. Also, if you are in a place you want to be in you need to work to maintain it. The roses you can see in the card represent balance and new beginnings. Due to the card being reversed it would seem that due to this new beginning I lack stability and security. This lack of comfort will inspire me to find clarity so I can achieve stability and security and overall work better.

How my Spirit Guides speak to me this week: Three of Pentacles reversed.

Pentacles are about financial and physical conditions. The number three is about energies being scattered and spreading myself too thin. Having said that I think this card is saying my spirit guides will make themselves known when my energies are scattered and I’ve spread myself too thin. I also have a feeling that when they do communicate with me it will be to remind myself to ground and balance myself.

How to best support myself this week: Six of Pentacles.

So as we know pentacles are about financial and physical conditions. Six though is about peace and quiet. It is also about keeping harmony with myself and surroundings, to stop and take a breath, and to create a comfortable pattern. The card itself seems to be quite literal for the situation. It seems to be saying in order to support myself I need to take pauses to make sure I keep calm and find time to relax.

Over all it seems like it will be a crazy week but hopefully it will be the start of an amazing journey. Do you see something important in the cards that you think I missed? Please feel free to leave any thoughts or questions in the comments. Thank you so much for reading and make sure you subscribe so you get a notification when I post. Merry Meet and Blessed Be.
