All about Reiki

So since I got my holy fire reiki 1 and 2 placements over the weekend, and hope to offer a reiki service on the site soon, I thought it would be good to talk about what reiki is.

How does reiki work?

Reiki is an energy that exists beyond this world. It goes beyond time and distance. When one is attuned to the reiki energy you can channel the reiki energy through your hands (palm chakras) and give that energy to yourself or others.

What is the purpose of reiki?

The purpose of reiki is to heal yourself spiritually, physically, and mentally/emotionally. The reiki energy is used to balance and align your chakras which in itself helps your soul, mind, and body. The energy can also focus on other body parts and organs to help heal those as well.

What does it feel like to receive reiki?

Everyone experiences reiki differently. Some people feel nothing but relaxed. Some can feel the energy unblocking their chakras. When I receive reiki I feel a tingly sensation where the practitioner is working on me. Some people see visions, or hear voices. I know some people who start floating off the table. You can be visited by various parts of the universal energy source. I find people often see the universal energy source in the shape of angels but as someone who doesn’t believe in angels I think they they would present themselves differently to me.

How does long distance reiki work?

The way it was explained to me was that picture our souls being connected to a cord that extends past our world to a place where distance and time does not exist. When you administer reiki long distance the energy travels to the start of the cord where there is no time or distance. It travels through the cord and then heals the soul it was meant to heal in our world. So not only can reiki be done long distance, but it can be done to someone in the past or future.

Do I need to take classes to do Reiki?

Some believe you can learn through books on your own but most believe you have to be taught. There are ignitions and placements you have to complete. There are also secret symbols to learn from a teacher. So while some believe you don’t have to learn from a teacher it is agreed that you must learn some way or another. You can’t just do it randomly.

What else should I know about reiki?

Reiki can not cause harm no matter what. You can do Reiki on someone as long as you have their souls permission. So say you want to do Reiki on your child who can’t speak yet, if you ask their soul and their soul gives you permission then you can do Reiki on them.

Reiki has no religion. It is thought of as a pagan concept these days I think, but what do you think Jesus (the real Jesus, the healer, not the one Christian’s talk of, God’s son) was doing? Some form of reiki, even if reiki wasn’t its name then. He was healing with his hands.

Your intention with reiki is what is most important. Your symbols don’t have to be perfect and your hand placements don’t have to be either. As long as your intentions are clear reiki energy will do what needs to be done to help heal the person you are giving reiki to.

And as always, when you are done doing reiki (like when you are done with a sacred circle or a Ouija board for example) you must close the persons energies and let go of the reiki energy. When you are done doing reiki you align the chakras, you remove any psychic waste in the air, and you thank the reiki energy for helping and release it. You do this to make sure the person who received reiki will stay safe because you never know what negative energies are lurking around waiting to feed on someone’s new energy.

After a Reiki session you should drink lots of water and expect to have a deep sleep and possibly some very vivid dreams.

Weekly Tarot Spread: Balancing and Clearing the Root Chakra

Hello everyone. Sorry for the late post but I did explain the situation on my twitter account, so if you want to keep up to date on posts make sure to follow me there.

This last weekend I earned my level 1 and 2 Holy Fire Reiki Practitioner certificate so I thought it would be fun for the next seven weeks to do readings on how to take care of each of our chakras. As one always should I am starting from the top and making my way up.

The spread I did

I think this spread is super interested because some of the cards I very intuitively knew. I find a lot of the time I go by the book and find the key ideas and use my intuition to feel how it applies but for a few of these cards I could just look at the cards and knew what it was about. Also I think the fact that I have my reiki now really influenced the answers I got from this spread.

The cards I pulled

As soon as I pulled these cards I could just feel this was a very powerful and meaningful reading for me.

Card to represent my root chakra: Death

So normally this card strikes fear into those that see it but personally this card always makes me feel excited. This card rather about a physical death often represents the end of one path and the start of a new one. I feel this card is strongly connected to the fact that I can now do reiki on myself. It says that my root chakra is going to start a major change/transition (now that I know how to heal with reiki). That the old me needs to die and it’s time for me to be awakened.

My current sense of security: Nine of Swords

So as we know swords talks of a mental or communication issue. Nines are about humanitarianism, universal compassion, and tolerance for the differences in others. So for me I think this says I take security in my compassion, values, and morals. I feel secure in the way I treat others. I’m most secure in my mind where I decide my morals and values.

How to feel grounded: Three of Swords

I feel like in this card it talks about communication issues. I would feel more grounded if I felt with my heard less and more with my soul. I feel my emotions without listening to the earth. If I communicate better with the earth and my soul I would feel a lot more grounded.

Good way to balance this chakra: The Lovers

So firstly as we learned last week, this card if my signifier (the card in the deck that represents me). This to me says it is the most important card to read. It also in the middle of all the cards which to me says that firstly balancing my root chakra is key to how the rest of the cards play out. It also says that since this card is close to all of the cards rather than just some that this entire spread is really important and will likely form how the rest of my chakras align as well. The lovers card is about harmony and unity. SO in order to balance my root chakra I need to find this harmony. I think feeling at home anywhere my partner and I are together is important too.

Result of balancing this chakra: Page of Cups Reversed

This card when reversed means a block in creativity. It also talks of a lack of inspiration, low self-worth, and being easily depressed. So to me this is saying when my root chakra gets balanced all this will be fixed.

I hope you found this interesting! If you think I missed anything, have any thoughts or questions make sure to leave them in the comments. Also be sure to subscribe to me on the website and on twitter so you get notifications when I post. Until next time, Merry Meet and Blessed Be.

Tourmaline

Tourmaline regardless of colour promotes inspiration and happiness, reduces fear, and building self-esteem. The various colours of tourmaline have different effects on people.

images (1)Red-Violet, deep pink: This kind of tourmaline is a root chakra healer and offers vitality to the physical body.

Orange: enhances creativity, stimulates the sacral chakra, and balances emotions of sexual nature.

Yellow: Aligns with solar plexus chakra and boosts personal power and spiritual growth.

Pink: promotes love and joy

Green: opens the heart chakra, allows it to see what the third eye visualizes, teaches compromise, must have for a herbalist or anyone who works with plants, and attracts success and abundance.

Blue: activates the third eye and throat chakra, assists retrieval of higher knowledge, and enhances inner knowing.

Violet: protects against dark entities.

Brown: cleanses the aura and auric field. It can be used to as a protective stone  to bring peace and hope.

Black: repels negativity, lifts a dark mood to a light mood, and grounds the root chakra to the earth energies.

Watermelon: It promotes unconditional love, bonds the heart chakra energies with the higher self, enlightens energies which allows room for laughter and lightness, and releases moods of being too serious.

Neon: magnifier energy that can be used  as a complementary tool  to enhance healing properties  of other healing stones, and offers power and focus.

Colourless: it activates the crown chakra; assists communications with the ascended masters, extraterrestrial beings, and the angelic realm; and it also aids higher awareness.

Healing:

Tourmaline is a great stone to use for weight loss and cellulite reduction. It works best when the tourmaline is incorporated into clothing.

It is also great for absorbing, aligning, and cleansing. The crystal is great for absorbing energy. Due to this if it builds up too much negative energy it will need to be cleansed or instead of making a room more positive the absorbed negative energy can have negative effects on a room. The crystal is also great for aligning the chakras as said earlier.

Lastly, the crystal also attracts inspiration. So if you’re trying to get a project done try having tourmaline around. If you have a piece with a colour that corresponds to your situation you will have even better results.

Chakras: The Root and Sacral Chakras

What-Is-Chakra-1

Chakras were the very first “pagan” idea that I ever connected with. Even when I considered myself a Christian, who did not believe in anything metaphysical that wasn’t part of the bible, this was a concept I was continuously drawn to. What got me started with chakras is this test https://www.eclecticenergies.com/chakras/chakratest I used to take it every couple months to see if my chakras were more balanced. I think at the end of the day a test can’t be totally accurate but I think it’s a good starting point to see where you need to improve.

What are the chakras? Firstly, there are 7 of them. They are balls of energy in various locations in your body that affect you physically, emotionally/mentally, and spiritually. There are 3 different states of our chakras: over-active, under-active, and balanced. When you have a chakra that is over-active you’ll often find one under-active to compensate. The goal is to have all 7 chakras balanced equally. To balance the chakras one must start from the bottom and make your way to the top. Like anything in order for success you must start with a good foundation. The 7 chakras are the root, sacral, navel, heart, throat, third eye, and crown chakras. In this post I will break down the different attributes of the chakras and ways we may balance each one.

The Root Chakra

Root-chakra

Colour: Red

Located: Base of the Spine

Element: Earth

This chakra is about being physically and feeling at home in all situations

When opened: You will feel grounded and secure. You will feel a sense of stability. You know who to trust. You’re thinking in the present and are connected to your physical body.

When under-active: You will feel nervous and fearful. You have a hard time feeling welcomed. You lack that feeling of belonging and security.

When over-active: You may find yourself being greedy and materialistic. You may have a fear of change and obsess over having a sense of security.

Healing and balancing the root chakra:

  1. Reiki
  2. Crystal healing (stones such as mahogany obsidian, red tigers eyes, hematite, tourmaline, red carnelian, and red jasper)
  3. Essential oils (oils such as ylang-ylang, myrrh, patchouli, vetiver, rosewood, thyme, frankincense, ginger)
  4. Chakra mudra (Gayan mudra is used for activating the root chakra. To preform it you need to touch the tip of your thumb and index finger together)
  5. Chakra sound therapy (the sound “LAM” is the mantra that connects with the first chakra. The frequency of “LAM” matches perfectly to heal the chakra)
  6. Meditation (you can imagine a red ball of light at the base of your spine and then imagine this light extending down your legs and to your feet. You can also practice the mudra and mantra during meditation)
  7. Natural healing methods (gardening, mountain hiking, and other activities that connect you with the earth and nature).

The Sacral Chakra

Sacral-chakra

Colour: Orange

Located: Lower Abdomen/pelvis

Element: Water

This Chakra is about feeling and sexuality.

When open: You are able to express your emotions freely without being overemotional. You open yourself up to intimacy and passion. You are comfortable with your sexuality and sexuality as a whole.

When under-active: You tend to be more cold and unemotional. You aren’t one to open yourself up to others.

When over-active: You are over-emotional and get attached to others easily. You also may be overtly excessively sexual.

Healing and balancing the sacral chakra:

  1. Reiki
  2. Crystal healing (crystals such as citrine, moonstone, amber, tangerine quartz, sunstone, carnelian, and orange calcite)
  3. Essential oils (oils such as tangerine, neroli, jasmine, rosewood, clary sage, grape, bergamot, and geranium)
  4. Chakra mudra (To activate the sacral mudra put your hands on your lap, palms up, on top of each other with your left hand underneath)
  5. chakra sound therapy (the sound “VAM” is the mantra that connects with the second chakra. The frequency of “VAM” perfectly matches to heal the chakra)
  6. Meditation (imagine a bright orange ball of energy in your pelvis and imagine it making it’s way down the base of your spine and down your legs to your feet. You can also practice the sacral mudra and mantra while meditating)
  7. Natural Healing Methods (spend time by the ocean, lake or river; take walks by the water or sit with it in view; go wading or swimming)

So there is an overview of what chakras are, specifics on the root chakra and the sacral chakra. Next week I’ll continue talking about the navel, heart, and throat chakras.
