Mental Illness Ritual Bath

Hi everyone. Today I wanted to talk about something that affects me. I want to talk about mental illness. However I want to make some disclaimers before I start. Firstly I want to talk about what I am referring to when I say I am affected by mental illness. When it comes to physical sickness there are certain things you go to the hospital for and some things your don’t. A regular cold or a little flu are not hospital worthy. Despite that though you are still sick. When I think of how mental illness affects me I think of it as I have the cold (and occasionally flu) equivalent of mental illness. Do I need meds and a therapist for it? No. Do I still feel unwell? Yes. So I just wanted to put that out there before anyone questions me on just how severe my mental illness is or whatever. My second disclaimer is this: Nothing I say in this post is going to cure your mental illness. May it help you cope? sure. Could it potentially alleviate some symptoms or at least make them slightly more bearable? Maybe, but no promises. Everyone’s journey is different. And I just hope that maybe you can get something out of this.

When it comes to me I always (especially in the mornings) have a higher than average anxiety level, for no good reason at all. And every once in a while I’ll experience symptoms of depression. Usually I’ll be very irritable and very low energy. Last week and the week before I was experiencing this. And by the end of last week I decided enough was enough and that I was going to try and do something to get out of this funk. So I made a ritual self love/happiness bath. I would like to share it with you. I feel that this is a mix of both a spell and a ritual so I will leave this in both of those sections in our BoS.

preview

Ingredients:

  • Epsom salt
  • Lavender
  • Rose quartz
  • Green Kyanite
  • Green Obsidian
  • Amythest
  • Some seashells
  • Yellow Candle
  • Incense (I used one that’s for the heart chakra)

Steps to making the ritual bath:

  1. Sage your crystals and yourself
  2. In some sort of container (I used my big cauldron) mix together the lavender, the epsom salt, the crystals, and the shells while thinking about the intention of your bath
  3. With the bathroom lights off start running your bath and add the ingredients to the water
  4. Have your candle and incense on the bathtub ledge or nearby.
  5. Once in the tub light the candle and the incense
  6. Call upon whoever you wish and ask them to help you find the joy you’ve been lacking and to give you the strength to get through the rough time you’re experiencing. I called upon Gaia and Aphrodite.
  7. Enjoy your bath, you could meditate, do a face mask, watch your favourite show, read a book, whatever brings you joy.
  8. Thank whoever you called upon when you are done.

If you desire to have a sacred circle feel free, you can also make the water sacred by adding rosemary. I don’t always feel the need to do sacred circles especially when I am doing impromptu rituals/spells (like I was in this situation). Please feel free to share your journey with us, or any spells/rituals that you do to aid in your mental health down below, along with any other thoughts or questions you may have. Make sure you follow me here and on twitter so you get notifications when I post and when I upload videos to youtube. Until next time, Blessed Be!

Shopping list for the Beginner Witch/Wiccan

Hi everyone! A couple weeks ago my boyfriend gave me the great idea to do this post and I thought it sounded so much fun. However before we start, you must remember that this is a generalized list. Obviously some people aren’t going to need all of these things for their path and some will need things I didn’t mention. This list is solely going to be based around what I would want in a beginners shopping list. Also keep in mind you don’t need any of these things to call yourself a witch or wiccan. When I first started my journey all I had to work with were the yankee style candles I already owned, the spices and herbs already in my kitchen, and I went to the dollarstore and bought a tin pot to act as a cauldron.

Car Protection Spell

Hello everyone! On the last full moon I decided that I wanted to create a spell bag for my car. I get really bad road anxiety and thought maybe this will help calm my nerves. So below is the spell I made. *disclaimer* I didn’t make up the words however. I found them on pinterest.

Ingredients:

  1. A little cloth or mesh bag
  2. Cinnamon for protection
  3. Ginger to make the spell more powerful
  4. Sage for protection
  5. Salt for protection
  6. Black tourmaline for protection
  7. Clear quartz to boost the spell
  8. Rose Quartz because it is my favourite and brings me peace (sub with your favourite or ignore)
  9. Reiki symbol for protection (if you aren’t trained in reiki feel free to skip this one or put in another sigil)

Image result for sigil for protection

7. Sigil sewn to outside of bag for protection

Steps:

  1. Create a sacred circle using your preferred method (I use sage and my athame)
  2. Call upon your desired gods and goddesses to help you (I called on Hercules and Gaia), air (for safe travels), and fire (to power the spell)
  3. Sew on the sigil
  4. As you fill the bag with your ingredients chant:

On this night, I invoke the powers of fire and air (add names of gods and goddesses if you like) to protect me from all that would harm me, whether physically, mentally, emotionally, or spiritually.

5. Now you are done creating the bag. Bring the bag to your car and tie it to your rearview window with three knots. (You could also just tie the knots and then put the bag in the glove compartment) As you tie the knots say:

With each knot, I bind this spell

Safety, protection, all is well

Sheltered and shielded, this vehicle shall be

Three times three, SO MOTE IT BE!

I hope you get some use out of my spell. Let me know what you think of it in the comments along with any other thoughts or questions. Make sure you follow me here and on twitter so you get notifications when I post. Don’t forget about my youtube either! I upload a video every Thursday. Until next time Merry Meet and Blessed Be.

Happiness Candle Spell

Materials:

  1. Candle (yellow is happy to me so that is the colour I picked)
  2. oil/liquid to anoint candle (I used lemon juice and vanilla extract)
  3. Herbs for happiness (I used coffee, cinnamon, ginger, salt, catnip, cumin, and bay leaf)
  4. Something to carve with (I used a tack)

Instructions:

  1. Start by cleansing the candle and the carving item with sage.
  2. While saging ask your deities (or whatever power you believe in) to cleanse both items and to bless your candle
  3. Carve the name of the person the spell is for, the word happiness, and a sigil that represent what you want to come of the spell into the candle. Below is the sigil I used.null
  4. Next anoint the candle. Take the liquid you are using and dip two fingers in it. Take you fingers and starting at the top by the wick brush your fingers down the candle and stop at the centre. Continue this until the whole top half of the candle is covered. Then so the same process but start at the base of the candle and make your way to the centre. Do this for the whole bottom half of the candle. While you are anointing the candle visualize what you want the results of your spell to look like and really focus on it.
  5. While your candle is wet roll your candle in the herbs or sprinkle the herbs onto your candle. While you are doing this focus visualizing the results you want to happen from the spell.
  6. After this say these words 3 times (or make your own) while touching or holding the candle:

When the candle burns the name engraved shall receive love, joy, happiness, and peace. Today, tomorrow, now and forever for anything less must now cease. Anger, sadness, worry, and pain are gone for he (or she/they/I) release. From now on and forever more happiness will increase.

      7. Finish be saying so mote it be, blessed be.

I made this spell myself, I hope you get use out of it and feel free to adjust it how you see fit. Thanks for reading! Merry Meet and Blessed Be!

Lammas Ritual

I guess I’m a little behind on this ritual since Lammas was on the 2nd but it’s never too late to do a ritual to honour the gods if this ritual calls out to you. I found this ritual on the website https://www.thoughtco.com and will make any adjustments, which I will highlight, for those of us with lower budgets/inventory/are solitary, as I see fit.

Materials:

  1. Whatever you like to use to cast a circle (I use sage and my athame)
  2.  A loaf of Lammas bread (lammas bread) or just regular homemade bread
  3. A cup of water or wine
  4. pieces of straw or another plant material (enough for each person in the ritual to make a little doll)
  5. yarn
  6. a bonfire or small table top fire in a pot, cauldron, or brazier

The Ritual:

  1. cast your circle, ground, and meditate
  2. The High Priest or High Priestess (or if your solitary, just yourself) says:

It is the time of the harvest once again.
    Life, growth, death and rebirth,
    all have come full circle.
The god of the harvest has died once more,
That we may eat and consume him,
Giving us strength in the months to come.

  3. The HPs (or if just yourself say this as you pick up the straw) hands each member of the group a sheaf of straw, saying:
  4. We now create dolls in our image.
These dolls symbolize our selves, in our many aspects,
and all the things we give up each year,
so that we may thrive and flourish later on.
  5. Each member of the group constructs a doll to represent themselves (how to make a doll). As each person creates their doll, they should energize the doll with personal qualities. These are the essences of self that each person is bringing to sacrifice, so that they may be reborn as the harvest god is each year. When everyone has completed their dolls, the High Priestess (or yourself) says:

The god of grain is dying,
    vegetation returns to the earth.
We call upon the gods of the harvest,
    asking them for their blessings.
    Tammuz and Lugh,
    Adonis, Dumuzi,
    Cernunnos and Attis,
Mercury, Osiris. (I would just say the one God that I worship at this time, i.e Pan)
    You are born each year,
    and live in our fields
and are sacrificed as part of the cycle.

  6. Raise energy by circling your fire or altar three times, building speed each time (move counter clockwise, against the pattern of the sun, because it’s the end of the harvest season).
  7. When the raising of energy is complete, each person in the group approaches the fire, one at a time, and casts their doll into the fire. They can either say out loud what their sacrifice will be this year, or speak it only to themselves and the gods. As each doll is placed in the fire, direct leftover energy into the flames as well.
  8. When everyone has made their sacrifice, the HPs (or yourself) holds up the loaf of Lammas bread. Say:

    Months ago, we planted seeds,
and through the summer watched them grow.
We have tended the fields in our lives,
and now we are blessed with abundance.
    The harvest has arrived!
Thank you, lord of the harvest,
For the gifts yet to come.
We eat this bread, grain transformed by fire, in your name,
and honor you for your sacrifice.

  9. The HPs (or yourself) breaks off a piece of bread for herself, and passes it around the circle, so that everyone can take a piece. Eat the bread, and then pass around the cup of wine or water. If you wish, you can say something as the cup is passed, like: May you reap the blessings of the harvest.
  10. Once everyone has eaten their bread and sipped from the cup, take a moment to reflect on what you have harvested for yourself this season. End the ritual as you normally would or other rites you wish to perform (spellwork, divination, etc)

Did you try this ritual, if so what did you think? If you have any thoughts or questions please leave them in the comments! If you’d like to stock up for this or any other ritual check out the Mystical Moon Online Store here: Mystical Moon Online Store. Merry Meet and Blessed Be.

My Paranormal Experiences

Hello friends! Today I have a major headache (too much sun exposure I think and not enough water) so I thought today may be good to have a more laid back post. Today I thought it would be fun to talk about my personal paranormal experiences. I’m not a paranormal guru by any means and I have not experienced an extreme amount but I’d say a bit more than your average bear.

So my first story is about back when I was around 11 years old I’d say. It was dark out so there were no sun related shadows happening for the record. I was wheeling our green bin to the curb that night for garbage collection in the morning. As I made it about half way down the driveway I looked up and on the path to my house there was this little girl shadow figure skipping to my front door. I stopped and stared and not long after so did she. She then quickly disappeared. After that I hadn’t really experienced anything too crazy until I moved into the place I am in now.

I moved here originally with my boyfriend (Tristen), our best friend (Kate) and her then boyfriend (Max). Not long after we moved in I noticed there was some weird stuff going on. I found a random baby sock (we have no babies and neither did the previous tenants) in my bedroom. Myself and Max would hear people walking upstairs when no one was up there. One time Kate heard what she thought was the cats running up and down the stairs only to realize they were both napping in the room with her. One time after Tristen and I had left the house for the day, Max said he thought he heard me talking downstairs, only to find out he was home alone. So on Samhain I decided I would use my pendulum during ritual and see if there was anything going on. What I could gather from this was there was a male energy in the house who really got a kick out of scaring us. I did a smudging and he left and what I discovered when he was gone was the energy of a little boy who was being suppressed but the negative dark energy of the previous spirit.

Symbols-of-Samhain-and-Halloween.jpg

I talked with this little boy for quite a while using my pendulum. I found out his name was Danny and he was 5 years old. Very sweet spirit, no ill intent at all. He had a tendency to hang out in Kate’s bedroom but tended to keep to himself. Not long before Samhain, Max and Kate had broken up and Max moved out. We found a guy through one of my friends and he moved in, Zach. Zach also seemed sensitive to Danny. One time, around Samhain I had porcelain dolls out for decoration. During the night Kate went to go get a glass of water but one of the dolls had a music box in it (you have to twist it to make it sing) and she could hear it downstairs playing. I’m pretty sure it was Danny. Whenever there is a lot of negative energy in the house that needs clearing Danny gets really quiet in the house. That’s when I know to clear it. Before I made this connection Danny was scratching me to get my intention. It never hurt. I would just find random scratches on my body when it didn’t make sense to have them. Zach has told me that he has felt an presence at the top of our stairs at night which he feels is Danny. One night in the upstairs bathroom, around Zach’s and Kate’s rooms the bluetooth shower speaker went off making a bunch of static noise at top volume. We have no explanation as to why as it has to be manually turned on. Also ,Zach had a friend over who said she saw Danny standing in Zach’s bedroom doorway.

Speaking of seeing things. Back in probably September or October of 2017, in the house I am in now with Kate; Zach; and Tristen, I was sleeping. I woke up and saw a shadow figure standing across the room. I saw it so vividly I jumped (waking Tristen up) and then he was gone. I was so frightened because I thought it was the presence of the negative male energy. After a reading with my pendulum I discovered it was my great grandfather who had passed a number of years prior who had a message for my grandmother which I gave to her (I said I had dream about him rather than saying I saw him in my bedroom).

All about Smudging

Hi everyone! I am so sorry for how incredibly flaky I’ve been for like the last month or so. I am wrapping my school career up and it’s been ridiculously busy. I promise once things settle down I’ll be more consistent.

Having said that today I want to talk about smudging. It is something that I think is very important even if you are not native, a wiccan, witch, pagan, etc. At the end of the day our homes, belongings, and ourselves collect unwanted energies that need cleared. I personally smudge my home about once a month but really I do it whenever I feel it needs cleansed. I think I want to start a routine of smudging myself on the daily though. In the morning and before bed. We shall see though.

So essentially smudging is the act of burning herbs/plant material and using the smoke it produces to get rid of unwanted energies and to bring balance. There are different materials people burn. You can burn these herbs on their own or in various combinations with each other. You can burn any herb in your home but some of the most popular herbs to burn are:

White sage: it is typically used to get rid of negative energies (this is what I use in my home)

Sweetgrass: Used to cleanse a sacred space and invites good spirits

Lavender: Used to attract peace, happiness, and a restful sleep. It also aids in divination and meditation. It is often associated with fairies and elves

Cedar: Banishes fear and enhances psychic power. It is considered a guardian spirit and chases away the bad spirits

Tobacco: It is considered an activator of all plants. It helps with communicating with the spirit world.

Just as there are lots of different herbs you can smudge with there are also various ways to smudge. You can burn the end of a bundle of herbs or you can burn loose herbs. I typically burn in a bundle but today I tried loose herbs. I think I will continue with the loose herbs for a while to really give it a shot. When you burn with a bundle there is typically less clean up. Some think you need to burn it in the bundle because it keeps everything evenly cleansed. With loose leaf you have to have a container of some sort to burn it in. I liked doing it that way today because you can offer the remaining herb in your burning dish back to the earth. Some think you need to burn it loose because it brings more air and lightness to the cleansing. It’s really whatever is best for you though. If you are burning loose you have to decide what to burn it in. It obviously needs to be heat resistant. Ceramic is probably a good bet. Some use Abalone shells (I personally do). I think it is a great way to incorporate the element of water into my smudging practice. Some though associate the shell with the mother of the ocean and using the shell is seen as disrespectful. Once again it is up to you.

As for how to smudge, There are numerous methods and I think, as long as you have the best of intentions, a smudging will always work, regardless of if you do it properly or not.  But what I think is most effective for smudging a home is open the doors and windows, if possible, and start in the lowest part of the building. I light my herbs and start off by saying I and the elements fire (the flame), water (the shell), air (the feather/smoke), and earth (the herb) do not welcome any negative energy in this home. Then I go through the house room by room and chant “negative energy you are not welcome here. This is a place of love, peace, and joy”. I go through each room until I feel moved to leave. You may have to relight your sage from time to time. When I smudge the last room I say something along the lines of “the elements, myself, and any gods and goddesses and positive spirits that would like to join me banish any negative energy in the home. This is a place of love, peace, and joy”. After that I smudge myself and my cats. Then, if I have any remains, I pour water on it and give it back to the earth and say thank you.

When smudging yourself I simply take my hands and wash the smoke over my face and heart. I then feather my self starting at my feet and up to my head and then I try and get as much of my back as I can. As for my cats they don’t like it very much so I just give a couple of fans with my feather in their direction. As for objects I light my sage and pass the object I want cleared, through the smoke. As you do that you can chant what you want from the smudging. Ex) you want to cleanse your crystal. So you pass your crystal through the smoke and as you do it chant “this crystal is cleansed of any negative energy”.

Lastly, I just want to make clear that one if you are in a situation where you don’t feel comfortable chanting out loud you can do so in your head. It will work. I just find saying it out loud when I can helps keep my energies up. Also be aware that smudging can take more focus and energy than you realize in the act. Having said that you may be a little drained afterwords, especially if there was a lot of negativity to clear. So sit down for a bit and have some water.
