Basil

basil-with-wet-leaves

Basil is a pretty popular herb in witchcraft as it can be used for many different workings. It is very popular in Greece for numerous reasons. Obviously it is delicious but they also keep it in their home for protection. When basil is put in your house it is thought to bless everyone in it and it keeps unwanted spirits away as well. Basil very well be the most powerful at doing this compared to all other herbs. It is common for Christian churches to use basil to “make” their holy water. Water infused with basil is thought to be able to keep demons away and bless anything anointed with it.

Basil is also very handy when it comes to spell work. You can use it for protection spells, money spells, love spells, and beauty spells. If you are doing a spell to further your career in some aspect basil is great to use too. If you’re worried about someone being possessed you can use basil to do an exorcism as well.

Basil is commonly given to a newlywed couple to help foster love and luck in every aspect of their lives. If you rub your hands on a live plant of basil and then smell them it is said to help your memory. And drinking basil tea is supposed to give you prophetic dreams. Lastly, you can write on dried basil leaves and burn them to banish things from your life.

Can you do Witchcraft with Tattoos?

So, I don’t know if you’ve noticed through pics or on youtube (if you follow me there) but I am a tattooed lady. I absolutely love tattoos and I actually just got two new ones last week while I was on vacation. I am actually planning on having a nature/wicca based arm sleeve. I know a lot of other Wiccans tend to enjoy tattoos (obviously not all, just making a generalization) so I thought you guys might enjoy talking about how we can make our tattoos magickal.

So when one gets a tattoo there is a good chance that what you’re getting on your body has some sort of meaning. It could be to honour a loved one, to remember a piece of your childhood, to show your love for a certain show/movie/book, etc. Well when doing a spell we do something similar. We give our spell an intent. Infusing a tattoo with magick is much of the same. You find a design you want and you infuse that design with your intent.

27073374_1576333662455257_4188636195681342_n

When it comes to what kind of things you may want to put on your body for magickal purposes there are tons of options. You could create a sigil and infuse it with your intent. Some examples of some intentions you may want to give to a tattoo sigil are protection, positivity, love, happiness, laughter, prosperity, etc. You could also get a tattoo that represents your dedication to the wicca path, a specific wiccan tradition, or even a particular deity. I know at some point I want to get a tattoo to dedicate to Gaia.

There are two main ways to go about getting these magickal tattoos. The first option, which is not one I am necessarily recommending as it a bit dangerous, is stick and poke tattoos. If you have a simple design you want to get, you could attempt to do it on your own. This is a great method if you want a more hands on approach to infusing the tattoo with your magickal intent. Make sure you have the proper equipment when you do this though. You can buy kits for this on amazon I believe. The 2nd method, which is what I personally would do, would be to get someone to create me a tattoo design. I then would take the time to focus on giving that design my intent and meditating with it. Then, when it is time to get the artist to tattoo me, I would try my hardest to meditate (or at the very least focus on my intent) while they do their work.

Thanks for checking out today’s post! Feel free to share any tattoos you have, especially if they are magickal ones or Wicca related in the comments, along with any other thoughts or questions you may have. All About Storms

Hi everyone. We have a risk of thunderstorms where I live today so, I thought we would talk about storms and how we can utilize them as Wiccans.

First thing to think about is that storms (especially thunderstorms) are a large surge of energy. This energy is definitely something you can use to your advantage. If you are making a sacred circle, for any reason really, you can channel that energy or invite that energy into your circle to help make whatever you’re doing stronger. Whether or not you channel or invite is totally up to you. Channeling is going to take more technique obviously. From what I understand, in order to channel the energy of the storm you are going to want to be good at meditating. If you read my posts you will know meditation is not my forte. I would probably go on to invite the storm energy into my circle instead. I would do this the same way that I would invite the elements, deities, or spirits into my circle and just hope they bless me with their presence.

storm

If you are using the energy of the storm for any magickal workings you may want to know what type of storm is going to best match your intent. So here are a few different types of storms and what type of magick it goes best with.

  • Regular Rain Storms are good for purification, love, healing, friendships, beauty, youth, releasing negative energies, thoughts and emotions.
  • Heavy Wind Storms are a good time for mental spells, studies, travel, breaking addictions and habits. Sending messages to others, both living and dead. And wishes.
  • Snow Storms are for purification, healing matters of the heart, transformational magick, change, protection, and renewal.
  • Fire Storms. This is when the searing heat of the Sun causes a blaze of fire to the land, and the winds sweep it across. It happens on a yearly basis here in California. Protection, courage, power, banishment, and commanding/oath spells are done during this time. Very dangerous though, one would need to be close to the flaming storm.
  • Storms during an Eclipse. These storms are rare, and because of such are extremely powerful. I have been told that these times of great power can be channeled to cure diseases, and banish unwanted energies, as well as successful exorcisms, if you believe in that.

https://theteawitchblog.com/2017/05/20/storm-magick/

Something to keep in mind is you will likely best connect with the type of storm that you are a sign of. So if you are a fire sign you will likely best connect with fire storms or even a lightning storm. If you are an air sign you would best connect with a wind storm. If you are a water sign you would best connect with a rainstorm or snow storm. If you are an earth sign you would probably be best for a lightning storm (as the lightning storm touches the ground and is in the sky at essentially the same time). If you are familiar with the element chaos (it does not replace one of the main four but rather can go with it. Chaos is an element that I connect with, along with fire) then you can probably connect with any storm, as storms are chaos in and of themselves.

However, that’s all for today! Have you ever used storm energy in your magickal workings or anything like that? Let me know down below along with any other thoughts or questions you have. Also, make sure you follow me here and on twitter so you get notifications when I post and when I upload videos to youtube. Until next time, Blessed Be!

Everything I did on my trip to Salem and if I would recommend it

Hi everyone! Last weekend I got back from my trip to Salem and I thought I would tell you all how it went. Firstly let me preface by saying I didn’t follow my itinerary that I wrote for you guys very well and we did pretty much everything in one day rather than two.

So the first thing we did in Salem was take their trolley tour. The trolley was good to have a ticket for if you wanted to use it to get around the city as well rather than walking. It cost $20 a person to get a ticket. It was a really good tour. The tour was an hour long. They talked about the history of Salem as a whole and not just the witch trials. As for whether or not I would recommend it I, personally, probably wouldn’t. I don’t think it was a total waste of money but as someone who was mostly interested in the witch trial history and as someone who ended up walking everywhere anyway it wasn’t totally worth it. However we did get a coupon to a little restaurant called Turners while we were on the trolley and the food at Turner’s was great (they also had a few non-seafood options).

After that I went to the witch dungeon museum. What they offered there was a reenactment of Sarah Good’s trial and then a recreated dungeon down in the basement that you were taken down to through a guided tour. I really enjoyed this spot. That acting was really good and all the words came from the recorded words from the trial. I also really enjoyed the tour itself and gave a lot of good information. I can’t remember exactly how much but I think it was around $11 to get in per person. I would definitely recommend this museum I thought it was a fun way to get new information.

After the witch dungeon museum we went to The Witch House. This is the house of Judge Jonathon Corwin. It was the original house furnished with things that belonged to the time period. It had a lot of cool information about various medicine practices, along with more information about the time period, the trials, and the home. It also cost somewhere around the $11 range to get in and see it. I would definitely recommend it as well as it didn’t just repeat the same stuff you already learned. It had a lot of new information to read about.

When we left the witch house we then went to the Witch History Museum. It was another museum that went over the history of the trials. They sat you down and set the mood and told you some info and then they took you to the museum part for a guided tour. It was good as well however I would only recommend going to this one if it is the only museum you’re going to. All of the museums pretty much told you the exact same things and it was just getting redundant by the time we finished this museum. If you’re going to the witch museum or the witch dungeon museum I would say you could skip this one. It was also around the $11 mark.

We also went to the Howard st cemetery, the old burying point cemetery, and the memorial. I would personally skip Howard st cemetery as there are no actual markers from anyone who passed during the trials there to my knowledge. However would 100% recommend the memorial and burying point cemetery. They are right beside each other and free to go to. The memorial is really beautiful and a really nice tribute to the victims of the trials.

The following day we did a walking tour through Hocus Pocus tours which was probably my favourite information source that we had during the trip. It was an hour and a half and we walked around the city and they told us history about the city, about the trials, they told us murder mystery stories, and facts about the hocus pocus movie as well. It cost $17 a person and was definitely worth it. Would 100% recommend them.

As for shops I went to Hex Old World Witchery. It was a super cute place. I got a Tarot reading done there and a palm reading. It was alright. Got some good points and some other things that didn’t seem to click. I checked out the Covens Cottage which was just absolutely gorgeous. I checked out the Crow Haven Corner as it was the first metaphysical shop in salem. It was cute as well. There was some cool fortune telling happening in there. I also went in Angelica of the Angels. They offered to do Aura photography which I wish I had’ve had the opportunity to do. I also got my new tarot deck from there.

That was my trip! I hope you enjoyed reading about it and getting some ideas of places you should visit while in the area. Energy Boosting Spells

Hi everyone! I don’t know about you but I am just exhausted all the time. If you could see me right now you’d see I’m falling asleep as I write this, as I just got off a long day at work. So I thought what would be a good thing to write about today? A few good spells to give you that little boost of energy you need without consuming absurd amounts of coffee or those deathly energy drinks. These spells are one’s I got from the internet and I will leave the links to them down below. For the most part they will be the same as they will originally written but I may adjust just a little bit to suit my preferences better.

The first spell is called Energy boost and the link to the original post is here

Try saying this spell to ask the element of fire for the gift of its power and vitality:

“Fire bright and fire strong,
Give me energy all day long.
With your warm and gentle fire,
Keep me going when I tire.”

I think this is a really nice an simple spells. I think there are numerous ways you could go about casting this. You could probably cast it just by saying it in a sacred circle. You could also say this while holding and focusing on a beverage (tea, coffee, water, etc) and infuse the drink with your intent. I think you could also just say this at any point of the day when you’re feeling sleepy. It’s totally up to you.

Sleepy_1050x700

The next spell didn’t really have a name but you can find it here.

The thought process behind this spell was the author believes if one is tired it means your connection to the elements are unbalanced and this should rebalance them causing you to feel more energized.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED: a quiet space, calming incense and a candle

Sit comfortably in the centre of the room, and bring your focus to your breathing.

After a few minutes, harmonise your elements. Summon Earth from the north to connect to your energy. Earth governs your relationship to the material world and keeps you grounded.

Call the element of air – your intellect, thinking and communication skills – from the east.

Next, order fire – your courage, strength and dynamism – from the south, and water – your emotions, intuition and healing balance – from the west.

Finally, focus on your connection to the divine: request the universal energy source/your deities to pour white light into your body, from the top of your head all the way through to your feet.

Hopefully this spell helps you too!

A few other great things you can do to help combat fatigue is reiki and meditation. You could also make a jar spell to help energize you. If you’d like to see a spell like that let me know down below and I will create one for you all! However depending on why you’re tired you may need to take a totally different route. If your issue is not getting a good amount of sleep in the first place, you may want to focus on sleeping spells instead of energy boosting spells.

Thank you for checking out today’s post! I hope you enjoyed it. I’ve been thinking about making a post about my plants that I have and how to care for them; you should let me know if you’d be interested in seeing a post about that, along with any other energy boosting spells you have, any thoughts, and/or questions you have. Make sure you follow me here and on twitter so you get notifications when I post here and when I upload videos to youtube. Until next time, Blessed Be!

My Salem Massachusetts 2 Day Trip Itinerary

So in the last week of June my partner and I will be going on a 10 day vacation and one of our stops is going to be 2 days in Salem. So I thought it would be fun if today I kind of post our itinerary and then the Wednesday after our trip I make a big post about what exactly we did, what we thought of each thing and then some pictures!

Also key to note that any prices I provide are in USD.

Day 1:

So day one will be spent absorbing all the knowledge I can get.

  • First stop will be the Salem witch museum.
    • For your knowledge the pricing is $13 for an adult, $11.50 for seniors, and $10 for kids 6-14. Presumably kids 5 and under are free.
  • Salem witch trials memorial is the second stop
    • I read online that one should do the museum first (as we plan to) to have more context. As long as you aren’t doing a tour this is free to my knowledge.
  • Charter st cemetery is third on the list
    • This cemetery is right beside the Salem witch trials memorial so it is a good spot to head to right after there
    • I would assume it is free as long as it isn’t a guided tour
  • The Howard st cemetery
    • This is said to be the cemetery that Giles Corey was pressed to death
    • And as the rest of the places of rest should be free

brujeria-holanda-k0LH--510x349@abc

Day 2:

Most of this day will be just appreciating the city for what it is a city. We’ll go and check out local stores and just see other none witchy sites. However if the day end up drawing out a bit I have a couple places we could go to check out.

  • The Witch House
  • Witch History Museum
    • I found the price at one point but can’t seem to find it again
    • I read that this museum focuses more on witchcraft rather than the trials.

One thing that we will be doing later on in the evening is going on a walking tour. The tour we are going to go on is by hocus pocus tours. I’ll leave a link here if you want to know more about it. However if you just want to know the price it is Adults: $17, Seniors (65 & up): $15, Military Service Members: $15, Students: $15, Children (Ages 5-12): $10. Prices change a bit in October.

So that is all for today’s post. Make sure you stay tuned so you can hear about how the trip went and what I think of the various locations. Have you been to Salem? Let me know if you think there’s place I should visit that I haven’t mentioned, along with any other thoughts or questions you may have. Make sure you follow me here and on twitter so you get notifications when I post and when I upload videos to youtube. Until next time, Blessed Be!
